Thread: Stop!!! CH owns in PvP if you know what you are doing.
I agree with imperfectZERO, I'm a novice ch, and rifleman and find that the two together make me a deadly target in pvp. As to going after the rifleman vs the pet, the rifleman would just burst run out of range while the pet stuns, poisons, makes you dizzy, and even take a knee which would stop you from chasing me. All the while I'm taking shots at a safe distance. As to other ranged attacks, the pet would make your avatar automatically block instead of aiming at me and could throw your aim off with various special attacks.
I'm not a master yet but taking ZERO's info has improved my game strategy
Master Medic, Novice CH, Novice Rifleman
if they ignore the pet they suffer from the special moves the pet can do. a pet that can dizzy and posture down endlessly is nothing to be scoffed at neither is one that can intimidate over and over and over. thats the point deal with the owner and suffer the pet specials or deal with the pet and suffer the owner's free attacks.

Any elite combat pro with the right template, doc buffs and food is going to laugh at pet specials ... they're a negligible concern compared to the owner, every time. It is always the wrong strategy to waste a shot on the pets.
Can a few pet specials landing make it take a couple rounds longer for the pro to kill you? If you're lucky, yeah. At best you're going to make his stay at the med center getting the wounds heal a couple minutes longer. Huzzah.

In other words you need to be the most Uber person in the game and get the most Uber BE pet. Doesent that kinda defeat the idea of the CH totaly?
actually you dont. rancors make excellent pvp pets via looping their intimidate and they are far from uber
you can beleive whatever makes you feel good. afew try one every combat round alternating with whatever special you choose. for instance using a pet that postures down and dizzies can make even a master template stacker flop for a few rounds which means if he is a melee type he cannot possibly get in range without dealing with the pet. and it takes a LOT longer than 5 seconds to kill a pet with a weapon designed for PVP. but then i can understand your negativity from never having tried it with a pet designed to fit in a PVP environment.
Yes, well, you know what happens when you assume ... in fact I've PvP'd with damned near every pet combo in the game, and it's not all that fun laying on your back deciding whether to clone or not while you watch a melee'r grind your pet into dust. I hotkey my pet specials and I use 'em for all they're worth, and the bottom line is that it takes a miracle to beat somebody with good food resists that way. If they have half a clue they will ignore the pet, kill you, and then deal with Pooky at their leisure.
But hey, you're not alone, the devs obviously share your cavalier "oh you just don't know what you're talking about and have never tried it" attitude toward players who honestly critique the imbalance of the existing system. Congrats on endorsing their myopic and uninformed view, you're helping them sleep better at night regardless of the crap quality of the code they dribble out.

Barb,
I have been following your PvP articles. Letme first say I find them intriguing. I do wish to believe in your statistics, at one point you were 7-0 I believe. The next thing I need to address is that I am wussy Entertainer ATM. I will not be able to verify or validate anything you say until such time I can get some combat skills. What I would hope for you to do is seriously show your tools for the rest of we CH who want to get back in the game. Zero if you can provide better data than say make this, do this, macro that it would be really important.
Pet's Full Stats list. Be/Wild, Name, HAM, Armor, Resists, EXACT Specials.
Macro's Used. Please leave out the aliases I hotkey everything and it becomes confusing. Tell me what each macro does although for some I am sure they are self explanatory. I guess what I would hope to see is something like:
/tellpet dizzy
/pause .1
/tellpet knockdown (or is it really posture down?) This one gets confusing when I read other peoples accounts.
/pause .1
I was talking about getting the best BE pet and Being a master riflmen with the best gun. I was saying it defeats the point of the CH by you doing most of the damage, and not catching the pet yourself =p All the fun parts! lol
Good idea and we would own none the less.
Plus Im a wookiee and dont get 80% kenetic armor, so bleh =p
lol
if you dont want to try a new thing then dont no one is forcing you. just stop poo-pooing any one that wants to do something other than fencer and combat medic.
