Thread: One Hour, 18 minutes to Tame a Mature Reptillian Flyer, Not a fun Sunday Afternoon

But as Master Creature Handlers, it should never take an hour to tame anycreature even if we're butt naked. It shouldn't even take 5 minutes.

I'm convinced that there's some weird random factor at work here. For a good long time, I wasn't able to tame anything over level 66. Then suddenly that changed, and I started taming level 69 pets.I always wear my bio-clothing (+25 pants) when taming, and I've had the oddest inconsistent results. I tamed a level 69 pet (some kind of mite) in 3 tries, while laterit took over 10 tries to tame alevel 62 or 63 pet (forget exactly because it didn't have a special ability and I got rid of it).I tamed a level 55 slinking voritor in one try andshortly after that it took me5 tries to tame another slinking voritor. The weird thing - I had forgotten to equip my bio-clothes that first time while I was wearing it the second time.

So, there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reasoninvolved. Just one more thing that I hope they make adjustments to.

Cowabunga,
Sorry to hear about the bum luck with the reptilian fliers. My Girlfriend and myself found 2 rep flyer babies, she got hers on like the 2nd try, mine took like 30 tries. It just happens sometimes is all. Usually i get lvl 60-70 pets in like 2-4 attempts, but im a wook using taming clothes & foods regularily.

As far as you having difficulty in finding wook BE clothing goes, head to New Rwookrrorro on dantooine, its an all-wookiee metropolis. Talk to Sasssha or Shyyyra-fang there, she is currently making maxed-out wook taming clothes for the wooks in town.

/agree

And I think you mean 'buck naked'... butt works just as well though.

Nope, I meant "butt" It's regional - have lived a few different places, forget where I learned it that way.

Well short and sweet then. I can get the food. If there is anyone who knows a tailor or perhaps an unadvertised Vendor any where on Lowca that can create a hood for a wookie with taming attributes then they have a buyer. There are just no wookie clothes in the entire galaxy with something in the pockets, except for 1 (one) item with +15 range defense . The galaxy is littered with non-functioning / deserted harvesters and closed/empty vendors/buildings, and it is getting worse .

My best suggetion is (and I am a twilek which can't use hats) to travel to the more populated areas on your server and use ctrl P then under search do a search for who is in the area. If you see a name that is a master tailor, send them a tell for some wookie clothing that can help you out. You should be able to get something for yourself that you can use as BE clothing. Also on the Tailor or BE forums they have a guide to all the cloths that take BE tissues and the type of BE tissues as well as species restictions so that you can specifically ask for an article or place a special order. I know it took me a few days to get my twiliek tendril thingys for +25 vicous/wild taming.

Here is a sticky to the BE tissue and clothing guide. At the very bottom of the first post is the Wookie garb and as luck would have it Shoulder pads can have a rienforces panel and synthetic cloth which means you can have a panel with +16/+16 melee ranged def and your +25/+25 vicious/wild taming. Then you only have to pic out something else on the list for your masked scent/camoflage synth cloth to go into.
Check out this shizzle

Hope all this helps and good luck.

I stubbornly kept trying to tame a borodok mare baby yesterday for about30 minutes. I was so intent on getting that baby after all the trouble it caused me. Suddenly, midway through a taming attempt, it de-spawned and an adult appeared a few meters away in the baby's place. That was most un-cool.

I wish strategy could be more a part of the taming equation, rather than using attachments to change a low probability of success per attempt into a slightly higher probability of success. Taming is very much like playing lugjack... only you get attacked on a bad roll sometimes.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks and thanks Wok for the dantooine tip.

I'll make my way to dantooine on Lowca in search for wookiech clothes later, but for now just eating some almonds has done the trick for me. I am beginning to wonder if the ch taming clothes are even having an effect when a mere dose of almonds means so much. Will see. I guess all the workofmastering ch a few years ago and the present grind hasminor effect when it has to be supplemented by something, as do most things in this game, get highor get drunk before attempting to accomplish something . That goes against my grain, but that is the game...

Here are some other observations.

It was earlier pointed out that these long tames usually occur when a baby stays very close to an adult. A baby that is not wandering or walking around on its own seems to take alot longer to tame.

Also, some babys seem to be bugged, there is some random issue that will cause the baby to be almost untamable.

My Mature Flyer took 4 attemps (had aggression L3 too). But a female kwi could not be tamed. Same planet, same day, etc.

What I do is bypass the baby after attempting 6 times, unless its something really rare or unusual.

As for clothing, they work. I have tried tames both with and without and have found the cloths do speed things up. But that is having to try 1-3 times vs 3-5 times without.

As a Wookiee, look for clothing with slots (will be yellow in examine window and show the slots) and add CAs, or ask a tailor to make you up a set. They can be made, but I guess there isn't enough of a demand for the tailors to pre-stock on their vendors.

Tks Dot, I did make my way to dantooine on Lowca and manged to find a waist wrap with with +25 bothtamingsbuilt in, so that along with my Kwevvu munchies has made things much easier, and will probably be easier yet once i find a an attachment or clothing with good mask scent properties to augment my level 4 mask scent.

Good observation from other folk as well on babies close to adults, you will get some aggro but being as stubborn as I am I eventually get them tamed. I will give you another observation, if you tame a baby and it runs off or back to itsparent, it has no specials on it . Of course i check, but right every time so far

In any event, things are better with tips and suggestions in this thread, and I appreciate that, allof you.
