So basically, other than ranged attacks, we're at the point of "Pets are working as intended, deal with it."

Nice.

Mounts "working as intended" is disheartening. Tell the devs to sit at any any busy starport in the game and watch what rides they see. Swoops, swoops, swoops as far as the eye can see. Why? Speed. If mounts aren't faster, or CH isn't given ability to use special attacks while mounted, they will never be used.

Next Question:

When will pets be balanced with the CU? Asked By DaBudo

Answer

Pets are already balanced

In the CH forum later today am really going to challenge this assumption as right now pets are definitely not balanced with the CU.

Yes definately bring up this issue, Im am very glad I am not anywhere where I have a chance to discuess that with the devs, I have a hard enough time controlling my toung already.

Next Question- Requested by Ko-a

When Mounted creatures are attacked they both slow down and do not allow the creature handler to attack. Will this be fixed soon?

Answer:

This is working as INTENDED

Try asking if not being able to shoot from mounts is the bug. Its very possible that mounts are indeed working as inended, however the inability to shoot back is probably what is bugged.

I spoke with a csr from Lucas Arts about the CH profession and here is what we discussed

Can you give me any details about the upcoming ch publish

Am generalizing what he said

Pets are now balanced and the upcoming publish will make sure ch is not an overpowered but balanced profession.

Ohh man I have so many things I wish I could have said to him about that.

He viewed pvp as being a very small percentage quoting pvp as being 5% of the overall gamersand that CH really didwas not a pvp combat profession.

I can think of about 3 or 4 hundred things to say to make him feel like a complete idiot with that statement.

Like TH said in thebeginning where developers were having trouble defining the role of CH in pvp giving us the Jack of All trades abilities which will be coming in the future ch publish, I still feel from this discussion that thereis still a lot of uncertainty as to what to do with our profession.

Theydont want CH to be balanced, they want us to remain the weakest combat prof out of fearof the beast wars returning.

How can Creature Handlers be incorpriated back into pvp?

After i asked this question discussed how pvp was in the very beginning and the intent of swg in all future publishes regarding our profession is to ensure that ch never agains returns to how it was where you could tank with pets.

Ohh boy do I wish someone from SOE or LAwould say that to me..............

/cancle account

Well guys its been fun. I might one day return if the devs ever remove their own heads from where the sun dosent shine...........

This is interesting... so..

"to ensure that ch never agains returns to how it was where you could tank with pets."

Um...

So pets are not supposed to tank?

What is their role thing? I thought CH was supposed to be versatile, able to fulfill the role of tanking, crowd control, or damage dealing, depending on the pet. We already know that CC and damage dealing are not working, so all that is left is tanking.

Now they are saying, "We don't want pets to be tanks."

So maybe I am missing something... what the heck is left?

Working as intended? I'm really going to fight that one... I really don't think they understand what we're saying, there's no way it can be intended that mounts are totally worthless unless galloping.

This requires a poll

Which was the worse answer:

TH: Some pets are just cowards.

Or

The mounts are working as intended.

And Ko no offence but it wouldn't suprise me if that is exactly what they intended.

Sorry to see you go too Joker but I am only around till august when this account is up also.

They really gutted this game for me.

So we are balanced now, hmm and the up comeing publish will ensure that we are not overpowered but a balanced proffesion. So what they are saying is in fact prepare for more nerfs to ensure we are balanced , although we already are balanced.

As many have said before , the devs have well intended that ch be weaker than the other combat proffs. Yes there is a strong pull twards ch just becuse pets are neat and cool to look at. Add in the fact that they could be usefull in combat and you a horde of people becomeing it. That is why we are nerfed so bad . Just like joker said they fear the days of the beast wars returning. And will do everthing in their power to ensure that does not happen ever again.

But by doing so this shows how very unfair and unjust that they are. This proffesion is suppose to be a combat proff. It takes as many points to be one as a riflemen or pikemen. We are not verstile , that word is used in place of what they really mean - Weak.

I really like alot of the changes in CU . But I will not be apart of a game where the ones calling the shots are unjust and unfair. Take care all , been good knowing many of you .

Peice of advise , if you are unsatisfied with a product you return it . Same goes for online games - in this case you leave.

Just got back from FanFest. A good time over all - was fun being able to put faces to names of folks here in forum like Milteck and Spreadsheet. Here's my report. Posted this once but "timed out" and then crashed and now doing it all over again if I can remember it all *sigh*

Personally, I think the CH forum went fairly well - better than I expected. Which is not to say that I was happy with all the answers, but there were a lot of good questions with concrete answers.

First some good news. It seems that we are going to have the ability to customize our pets via new "training" options. We weren't given much detail or an ETA, but this is something being worked on right now. This is something different from what BE will be able to do. The goal is for BE and wild pets to each have their own unique abilities. We are also going to have new "taming options" but little was said about that so not sure what that means. As far as customizing, though, we will be able to give (or change) our pets abilities and stats. For example, if we want our pet to be a tank, we will be able to increase its healthpoints - possible at a cost to its offensive abilities. Or if we want our pets to have more offensive capabilities, we can increase those - at cost to health points maybe. There will be some give and take, but we will be able to "train" our pet to fit whatever particular role we want it to play.

Ok, Reader's Digest of the Q & A (and apologies if I repeat anything that gets posted while I'm writing).

Will the max level of pet that we can control be increased to CL 80.

Answer: No. After Publish 17, pets should be more powerful, so we shouldn't need pets over CL 80. Dev stated that his CL 60 pet defeated a CL 80 mob. If people still find that their pets are getting defeated too easily, it may be a bug so /bug it or post in this forum so Koa can let Devs know what's going on with our higher level pets.

Pet specials again.

Answer: Again, ranged and pet specials are broken, high priority to get those fixed.

What about pets that are uncalleable because they are now over CL 70, BE & wild?

Answer: Not good news, I'm afraid. The problem is very complex and probably can't be fixed. I think Milteck asked if those pets should be deleted, and the Dev replied it might be a good idea. Though, the new "taming options" should help compensate for having to delete pets.

A follow-up question was later asked if we could "re-deed" those uncalleable pets so that they could be dropped in our houses.

Answer: Devs thought this was a good idea as long as it was understood that those deeds would not be able to be sold to other players. No mention was made about when something like this would be implemented.

Higher level pets (CL 70 for example) are very difficult or impossible to tame, can this be adjusted?

Answer: Taming high level pets is supposed to be very challenging to make it more rewarding when one is tamed. It shouldn't be impossible, though, so Dev will "look at" taming difficulty. Though he seemed to think taming difficulty was where it should be.

Pet speed is too slow, can it be fixed?

Answer: Some AI issues here, but this is being looked at - whatever that means.

A combination of questions about pets going aggro on mobs 80 meters away as well as getting aggroed by mobs even though play has masked scent.

Answer: AI problems with pets going aggro, especially in dungeons. Being "looked at". As far as pets getting aggroed, Dev kind of felt that mask scent should not include pets but will take another look at this. Mounts are the exception. Mounts definitely are included in masked scent (if player is mounted), and if mounts are getting aggroed, it's probably a bug. Will be looked at.

Pets can't hold aggro, can there be some sort of /taunt?

Answer: I didn't write anything down for some reason. Attention deficit disorder, I guess. Tiggs was helping out as a sort of forum/question monitor, and Imust have beenwatching her. She's darn cute. Basically, they said they didn't want the pets to be a "meat shield" like they were pre-CU. And with good tactics, a pet could? hold aggro blah blah blah. That's all I remember.

Why does mount slow down for combat?

Answer: This is outdated feature, and that feature can/should be turned off. No mention of when this would happen. Eventually, they do want to bring back mounted combat, though.

Static spawns don't respawn (affecting taming of certain babies).

Answer: Staticspawning isbroken and is being looked at.

There was discussion about why Devs think pets are "balanced". Again, I didn't follow all of this - probably for same reasons as above. The gist of it was that CH is supposed to have even abilities in everything, not being great or bad at anything. So pets are supposed to be the same blah blah blah.

Actually, if a CL 80 MCH can take on a CL 80 mob using just pets, I might accept that CH is on a par with other combat professions (allowing for afore mentioned bugs/problems that will be fixed). The Devs stated that no one profession should be able to stand alone. That is, if a player wants to be optimally effective in combat, he/she needs to have 2 combat professions. I'm not convinced, yet, that I can take on a CL 80 mob with, say, my CL 66 Rhoa, but we shall see.

There wasn't enough time for all the questions I wanted to ask. However, Spreadsheet passed out a really, really good synopsis, so to speak, of CH issues, ideas, etc. It will still be up to us to make constructive posts here, letting Koa know what we would like to see happen so he can pass those ideas on to the Devs.

I wish I knew what CL 60 pet that dev was using to kill a CL 80 creature. Even if the pet was grouped that would be no easy task since its stats would still be much lower than the CL 80 creature.

I agree...

I can join my level 66 Kwi and the two of us can combine to pretty easily take down a level 80 mob (my character is MTK/MCH). But alone, there's no way that Kwi could beat a level 80. Yes, including when it is grouped.
