BE has been bugged to hell since Beta and it still is. I can't tame about half of my critters because of the 'datapad is full' bug. They've had like months to work on the class, and haven't. I say go with combat medic.

Ok, I recently became a bounty hunter, and i intend to master it, in the distant future. So that leaves me with very few extra points, but i thought it would be cool to be a CH and a BH so i was wondering if it would be worthwhile or if it would just be a waste. all i really want a creature for is to attack, i dont care if it can do tricks or anything like that. so would my creature still be able to help me? or do i need skills before i can use more powerful creatures?

As it stands now a Novice Creature Handler with no additional skills can handle the most powerful, tamable creatures in the game so long as a more experienced Creature Handler has tamed it and sells it to the Novice. There is a huge stink about this, even from most Creature Handlers themselves, so it's a safe bet that it will be changed before too long.

As far as using the Creature, you get the Attack command as a Novice so the Creature will fight for you but you won't be able to Group with it (so you can see it's HAM bar) or order itto Guard you (so that it will automatically attack anything that attacks you). Also you won't be able to have it play Tricks to heal it's Mind pool wounds (they're not just for entertainment's sake). Right now you can get around this by storing your creature on your datapad then, when you bring it out again, it will be fully healed (you have to wait about 60 seconds after the fight is over before you can store it so it may Bleed to death before you can do this if you fight high skill Marksmen). How long this will last without being nerfed is hard to say.

If you want to try being a Creature Handler go ahead. You can always sell the skill points back later on. But really, if all you want is a tank to take a beating for you, buy yourself a droid.

I'm aCreature Handler, and though not a Master yet, I can definitely say that if used appropriately, even if weak, your creature can distract your target long enough for you to destroy it with special maneuvers using ranged attacks. This does not seem to work for Melee types however as the target will reset to attack you when you close in.

I have all four rank 1 skills in Creature Handler and the largest creature I can control (that I've discovered yet) is a Tybis I got from a Bio-Engineer. It tops out at about 6500 HAM but takes *all* of my Pet slots in my datapad. Meaning you can't tame anymore until you get more pet slots and thus lose out on taming xp which is *vastly* more lucrative than combat awarded CH xp.

OK I can go to search and have done that, but it keeps changing (getting nerfed) so I do not know what the up to date rules are for ch

I am Novice CH and have Creature Taming 1. Plus I have 600 additional points towards next skill.

So when I see a baby creature that is Lvl 17 or 18, that is not viscious, and that is 'tamable', I should be able to tame it right? Well it keeps on telling me 'you can't tame this creature'.

So how do I know what I can tame and what not?

Also, to be able to use my creature that I bought that is Lvl30, do I need Creature Taming 1 and 2 or do I need Creature taming 1 and Creature TRAINING 1?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Training is what you need to tame over Lvl 15, not Taming. I did the same thing.

no havent tried that. In my abilities it says Max level of pets is 70, a bull rancor is 65, why shouldnt I be able to tame it? if I can do it with tailor clothes then which ability do I need to enhance?

I can tame a regular rancor (lvl 50), but they seem pretty wimpy, only 30% energy and kinetic resists? whats the deal with that?

please help out a very frustrated CH

If you look at "my skills mods" you will see that your taming vicious creatures mod is, if you are human, +50. This is the skill that matters for taming bull rancors. If you wear + taming wild/vicious clothes enough powerful you will be able to tame them. It's the reason why i don't sell BE Kimos lvl 63 and up. You can not call it when full grown unless you wear taming clothes. The taming clothes are made with at least 25 milk units and the collaboration of a master BE and a master taylor and can be combined with a maskscent tissue that is very useful too.
