Thread: The whipping boy of SWG

Ever read the bible? Job, the guy that God decided to punish for no reason for his entire life? Think of Creature Handler as the Job of Star Wars Galaxies. If something is going to go wrong it's probably going to go wrong with CH. I'm not accusing the Devs of intentionally putting bugs in...oh wait, yes I am. Pets worked fine before publish 6, and now they don't. Seems to me they added a nice little range borkingthat made the pets go all wonky, standing on their owners and running all over the countryside in combat looking for that "perfect range".

Top five reasons why CH is un-playable:

5.) /tellpet command breaks randomly...a huge source of frustration if all your hot key commands start with /tellpet

4.) In PvP pets take full damage, but only do fractional damage.

3.) Camps are still required to call pets to prevent griefing...how the hell are you going to grief by not using a camp!?!?!?!

2.) Autostore, for seemingly no reason pets will store themselves, often in the middle of combat...so do you take missions without your pets because they're probably not going to stick around for the whole battle?

1.) The brand new range bug the Devs installed where your pets will stand directly on top of you unless told otherwise (FYI the formations commands and stay commands have timers now, so pets will go back to standing on top of you if you turn your back on them) and because pets will now seek an ideal range in combat, they run all over the place trying to keep a certain distance from the mob.

I have asked in every way possible to find out when, if ever, these bugs are going to be fixed. For 3 & 4 I was informed that these were intentional additions to the game to make CH suck (okay I added the last part). The other three I was told (direct quote) "I'm sorry you're having insert name of bug here with your pets. This is a known bug in the game for which there is no CS fix at the moment. There is no information yet on how soon this bug will be fixed. Please check in-live now in the future for possible fixes in the future."

As a retaliation I have decided to turn our problems back on the populace that cried nerf to cause them and I invite everyone to join me...it's kinda fun too. Band together MCH's and let's get the rest of the populace to join with us in calling for the Devs to fix what they broke...we're going on strike!

- Everytime a non-CH asks you to train or tame for them a pet inform them you are on strike until the bugs in your profession are fixed. Tell them to pester the devs with e-mails, CS threads, and bug reports about the range bug, the autostore bug, and camps.

- Bring out your largest most lag causing pets and place them all over the city on parade. Name them interesting names like "No-more-bugs!" and "We-re-on-strike". If necessary purchase crappy BE rancor rejects so you can have two rancors on parade with these names.

- Place very tempting pets for sale on display and inform people requesting to buy them that you cannot sell them until your strike is over.

You will get endless /tells and requests to end the strike...inform the people that the only people that can end the strike are the good people at SOE. CH is one of the most popular professions in the game. With those numbers comes a lot of power if we join together and refuse to do our jobs. Let's get the entire community so fed up with the strike that they're calling for the fix of CH instead of the nerf.

I just thought of a great new addition:

- While on strike you may not use the /tellpet command or disband your camps after calling a pet. Leave dozens of camps running all over the countryside (the bigger the better) and remove /tellpet from all your commands to cause as much noise pollution as possible.

Be sure to inform all complainers that you're on strike and the only way to get it to stop is to pester the devs about fixing the bugs.

that is the worst idea ever. that will just accomplish 3 things:

1) non-CH hate us even more
2) they take away our big creatures
3) they don't fix our profession out of spite

what they flying heck? you know a strike only works when the strikers are needed by the people in power. it's not like the game won't go on because we strike. they'll just add quickfixes to prevent your anoying activity and be on their merry way. again, making the devs hate us is not the way to solve the problem!

News flash, the devs already hate us and they're not hearing anything about it. I guess if you really want to you can just roll over and take it, but I think in general CH's have done that enough.

Instead of making every single player mad at you, why don't you just pick on the devs. Flood them with emails saying whats wrong.

I have, and I'm sure several CH's have as well, but the problem is our profession as a whole is both complacent about what happens to us and nobody outside of our profession is saying anything.

If I had more people asking for pets or training, then I'd love to tell them that I'm on strike.

I'm a popularMCH on my server, so I get a lot of tells requesting pet taming/training from regulars. Lately, I've been doing a lot of PVP so I don't train pets on request anymore because I'm either not in the same city or my datapad is full. I don't think you'll be able to get all CH's to go on strike, because most of them don't even frequent the forums. Word of mouth would be sporadic at best, so I think this idea (although a good one) wouldn't work.

I'm just as frustrated as everyone else. Just today I had to quit for awhile because I was so angry at getting mind incapped with one shot, and I was buffed. I can't wait for the rebalance for PVP. I just hope it's worth it.

Even if we al mass quit MCH an no one touches CH until the changes are acceptable, it wont change or speed up things. look at Squad leader man, they embody what it is to be left on the shelf.

I never did understand point 3 and 4 though or why it was done that way. As for CH bugs, what else is new. they're not new either, they were poofing, warping, running away a long time ago too.

wait thats it? thats your complaints?

Ok there are bugs in every proffession, CH is no different, but the wipping boy of SWG? come now.

I make no comparison but do your bugs cost you thousands of dollars and hours of work? BHers have to deal with that... we spend an hour tracking our targets and when we get to them there could be a number of reasons why we have to cancel the mission and start all over again.

Biased am I? perhaps. But im a BH and a CH... and what little I have found wrong with CH is nothing compared to what Ive been going through as BH.

My post in a nutshell.... relax... we all got our problems... take a number and have a complimentary donought.

By far the most broken thing about CH is how slow you get the xp.

Oh we'll get endles tells alright. But not the kind you're thinking of. Your whole idea is punish the entire playerbase (or at least the few who do use our abilities) for something they have no fault in. That would be like yelling at your neighbor for something your brother did. Pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

Secondly, you say let's do thisas retaliation. Retaliation for what? So someone messed up a line of code. It happens. Expect it to happen again, and again. I haven't seen a patch yet for any MMO I've played that didn't introduce a bug or two or twenty. This world isn't perfect and neither are the people who live in it, and certainly not the people who program the virtual ones.

CHsare not so popular, not so adored, by the entire game community that they will simply side with us on any issue we have with our profession. They've all got issues of their own they'd like to see addressed. Not to mention doing some of the things you mentionisn't going to win us support from other players. And let's not forget one simple fact. At any time the devs choose to, they can completely remove CH from the game. Give them enough reason to and they may do just that. One way to fix a problem is to remove the source. No CHs, no CH problems.

You go ahead and strike if you choose to. Me, I'm going to continue to play and enjoy myself, rather than waste my energy on fruitless efforts or by ranting, screamingand crying. I posted my problems ThunderHeart's thread about the new CHs bugs. I've made my bug reports. The problems will be fixed. But I'm not going to take actions in an effort to get those problems fixedthat couldvery welllead togetting us nerfed even more than we already are, or alienate us from the rest of the player base.

Thanks but no thanks.
