Creature Handler Archive
Thread: NEW Beta Info.......
1) In order to tame creatures above CL70 you WILL need BE'd clothes and Food as well. You may get lucky, but more likely very frustrated.
2) You WILL have to learn to tame above CL70 infive steps, up to CL72,up to CL74,up to CL76,up to CL78, then finally CL80
3) You WILL need to do a quest that rewards you with a cube that is imbued with the force. When you place 3 items that have some amount of force properties already (glowing) it may make a brand new special item.
4) These "glowing" items have a slight chance to drop as loot from creatures on Mustafar. They drop at a fairly decent rate from any NPC on Mustafar except the CL1 miners, although I suppose there's always a chance. Glowing items only drop on Mustafar to my knowledge
The cube makes many different things like schematics, decorations, stimpaks, props for dancers and so on. We do not know if a different item is needed for each level of taming. No-one in beta ever got any item made that had anything to do with taming what so ever, so anything more than this is pure speculation. It could be some kinda charm necklace that raises your taming ability. But since we do know that it takes 5 steps to get to CL80 it could also mean that 5 different items ( I pray this is not the case ) are required, or maybe as was suggested earlier, 5 similar items that stack to get you to CL80. It may just be that once we get THE item, we need to tame a 1st level creature ( CL71,or CL72 ) before we can attempt to go higher. It's really a matter of how hard the devs wanted this to be. If it does in fact require 5 different items, then it's gonna be a looooong time before were taming CL80's. I can forsee myself finally getting the right 3 items in the cube, only to read the fine print that it allows me to tame CL78, and I still need to find the previous 3 level items before I can use it. Since this scenario just seems too cruel, I tend to believe it's either a single item, or like items that stack. In either of the last 2 cases, once we discover the magic formula, it's simply a matter of finding the correct loot. Most of the glowing items will be tradable, but since one of the glowies used to make our device, more than likely is used in other recipes, it may not be readily available to purchase, unless someone has a dozen of the same thing.
I'm going to suggest that Ch's on every server network in order to begin this task of finding the recipe that makes our device(s). Once an(the)item is made then we will know the rest of the story. But we will still need to band together to trade glowing items so we can help our fellow CH gain the ability to tame the "big boys". This will be extremely important if in fact it does require five separate items from the cube to get to CL80!!!
Now you know why no-one in beta managed to actually tame anything other than what we always could. This is also why I held back from devulging all the info, well besides the NDA, I didn't wanna see a ton of flames towards the devs before we try this puppy out on live and see what happens. I know that alot of CH think we already have a major grind getting a CL70 pet fully trained( and we do), and now it looks like we need to do quite a bit of NPC killin' to acquire glowing items in order to reach that goal of CL80 pet. Let's just keep our cool, and see what happens. We can always start to whine and demand changes once we at least try things out and see what we have. I actually kinda like the idea of having to earn this through gameplay, although, if I find myself simply killing hundreds upon hundreds of NPC's on Mustafar and it begins to seem like every other grind, I may become ticked off!
LOL, things are gonna be interesting! It all starts on 10-25-05 for those that Pre-ordered, if not, you may get lucky and those of us that have, have already discovered the recipe, but I doubt it

Yeah me to Mirth....
....we're losing out to all the kids that have no RL responsiblities & get weeks & months off school to grind...
TC anytime soon?
SpaceRancor - *TKM-Starsider* We did do some heavy internal testing on them throughout the design process and beta. The ability to tame
this high level pets will be available on the 25th when Mustafar is opened to players who preordered.
Ah I wouldn't read toomuch into that, It's alot of PR spin on those chatts lol.
What he is probably saying is ...

You could theoretically tame any pet/pets allowable from day one if you meet the appropriate requirements to tame said cl pet.
In other words If you have the time and are lucky you might get up cl 70+ questing and killing on day one lol.
Heck from what I am seeing untill there is a guide and understanding of each step then no ones completing it any time soon.
But for what it's worth I suppose its better than nothing
.
Only time shall tell if that last sentence is true lol.

Yeah, I wondered about that statement myself, but as it was we all had "the ability" to tame above CL70 in beta as soon as we did the quest for the Chu-Gon Dar cube! So from that perspective nothing new. However, I don't see them scrapping there idea and just placing the 3 glowing items in your inventory upon getting into ToOW the first day. I actually like the idea of a little content being required to gain this ability. I just can't see how they can call having to loot 3 specific glowing items from NPC's and then managing to find the correct recipe to combine them in the cube to make the magic Taming item "being available" to everyone at launch,LOL![]()
There's that "C" word again, killing NPCs to no end is NOT content... thanks bye bye. :-) It's busy work, if we make them kill a million of these things they'll continue to pay us while they do it....

So, lemme see if I got this right.
No only do I have to collect hundreds of abilities... I now also have to collect random glowing lot from NPC's !
So , when do I actually get time to play??
