I've heard rumors milling about a rebalance coming, yet I read in the forums only about the jedi quest system and not much of the rebalance. Jedi are the hot topic and I understand the interest level is very high there. I however am interested in returning to a profession to have fun, not because it is the flavor of the month due to an uncalled for boost or nerf. If the playing field is leveled and each of the professions are given a fighting chance not to do everything well (pvp and pve) but do somethings better than most professions, I as most I assume will be content earning a roll in the Galaxy (after they find out jedi will be next to impossible for most of us).
But how do you keep these people playing when they find out they can't be a jedi master, or even a jedi padawan at that?? Combat rebalance.
So when is this combat rebalance coming??? Pub. 10?? Post where you've read about this rebalance so others can read it too please!!
I read about armor being nerfed but not too much of professions being tweeked, do you have any answers??
I am investing time and skill points into becoming a MCH am I going to be let down when this pub. or rebalance comes out?? (its not a jedi grind, but then I won't get any cool stuff coming out of my shoes as I run past an AV-21 either)
I don't want to be the most powerful at anything, but I would like to be strong at something...as it stands I can out tank a level 40 pet...I'm sure I can probably out tank any pet with a good buff. I can out damage any pet. But I suppose I should be able to.
Where is the future of this profession now that mounts are way to slow and other than starting planets my pets end up as dinner (even though they are Bio'd)??
sorry for the ramble...any commets will be read with interest!!

Sorry to inform you the whole revamp (balance) talk from the devs these past 9 months have been a fabrication to quiet the masses. they basically lied to us all about evrything and the result was people quit, screamed contacted magazines, emailed game sites and the response from the swg team was a fluffed up we never said that and the forum people are a minority who dont really count.
the revamp (balance) wont be till 2005 and dont let anyone tell you differently after JTL launches in what they say will be OCT (we'll see lol) theyl be patching that for months and wont care about even starting the revamp till after the new year. they have no plans on it at all, reguardless of what theyve posted recently about more idea's and finnally fixing a few bugs and tweaks to a couple proffesions its just to quiet the forums down. They do not care about the core game and what people may actually need to balance the game out, all they care about is Jedi and JTL because both are marketable prior to xmas and the launch of some other online games this fall.
Yes we are the ones who got balanced (Creature Handlers). in preperation for the so-called revamp when actually the truth is they did nerf us because CH were the whipping boys last yr and people said we were too powerful and too many pets in the cities ruined the game. So CH is out of balance even more since they never did anything they promised.
If you are looking for a balanced proffesion forget it lol

Short version: We are already "combat rebalanced" according to the the devs statements when they first nerfed us. Whether or not they remember that in a year when they finally rebalance /shrug.
On another comment you made, dunno what you are using, but my pets handle anything I throw them at on any planet. Now I'm not tossing them at kimogila's (although hmm, I wonder), but they handle all rancor types, mantigrues, arachne's, and if I use the right pets even the nightsisters. All but one of my pad is natural (one level 68 BEd Gurreck). My current standard tanks are a pair of gaping spider hunters and a pair of toxic merek battlelords. Between the 4 of them I can keep rotating them in and out and minimize stim use. I've also got a rhoa kwi guardian for stormies and a couple other specific resist pets, but the 4 insects are my core.

The Combat Rebalance is smoke and mirrors.
Once JTL launches, 5 million bugs will have to be fixed. Jedi will be screaming. Combat Rebalance is the panacea that the Devs throw at the forums to shut us up.
Put simply, 5 years from now, if this game is around 1 year from now, the Devs will still be talking about the great Combat Rebalance.
How can you tell when a Dev is lying?
When his lips are moving!

Just curious, what pets do you use for nightsis? Are they BE pets? Would love to be able to take on nightsisters.

Notice his second profession and that basically tells you why he does Nightsisters.
It isn't the pets doing the damage, it's either his LLC (light lightning canon) or his scatterpistol using burn, he is a 2 0 4 4 Bounty hunter which gives you expertise in pistols and LLC.
So unless you have an uber second combat profession or good damage dealing combat profession I would suggest you stay away from the nightsisters.
I would also assume he his buffed when doing nightsisters, I went with a group of 4 the other day to the caves and they were buffed and I was unbuffed. My BE razor cat was targeted and on guard on our master two handed sword. I am a wookie so was wearing my armor, and I am an 0 0 1 4 BH. I kept my distance, my cat held agro pretty well but took a beating when the nightsister took out two of our other partners. I ran for it and escaped, my cat held the elder off while the two handed sword escaped, it got incapped but I was not going back in there for anything. So it lost vitality, sorry cat.
anyway those are just a few observations, I usually think of my pets in most circumstances as saving me the price of a buff and it is my job to keep them alive and healthy while we are doing high level mobs. Alone they cannot kill nightsisters.

Sky pretty much nailed it. Against nightsisters the pet is basically just a damage sponge (I refer to them as my 10k HAM buffs). The BH skills (torso shot +lightning single 2) are the critical part. The game is to kill the NS before they kill the pet. Buffs on me generally don't matter, since if aggro switches to me I'm dead either way. One nice thing about the LLC is that its specials require that I be within 16-17 meters of the target, which means I'm in range to heal the pet during the fight (got a nice BE who's been making crates of stim Ds!)
For those hunts I keep the prize pets (the rares and BEd ones) in my pad and shuffle through my TMBs and Gapings (hunters and recluse). It's not in any way shape or form a "safe" thing or even some days a successful thing
but it is alot more fun than grinding out Bull Rancor lairs or whatnot and a fun diversion.

The SWG community is very large even with the casualties we've had lately, so I don't expect everyone to be happy (I'm not) or for the devs to respond to all comments. But the devs and csrs seem more interested in silencing people than pleasing them.
I personally believethe rebalance is total fiction. Many people are finally starting to figure that out and are leaving. I canceled all three of my accounts, then I renewed one just so I can see what happens in the next few months.
The devs are using 'carrots' todistract people. They destroyed CM (for PvE and PvP) and they cut shuttle wait times to 5 minutes after a year of people screaming about it. Anyone that thinks these changes were for balance or to improve our gaming experience is deluded.

You guys read the interview in gamespot I think? It was an eye opener. They never sais what a supposed rebalance was to entail. In the interview they state they are looking into a few things and because they want to do it right they put off any rebalance because they SUDDENLY figured out there is alot to rebalance. ?? Vert, can you find the thread. I should have stuck it on my sub but didnt.

Skypreacher, Bynder - thanks for the clarification. I always stay away from nightsisters (though they don't always stay away from me
). And now I certainly won't be planning on getting up close and personal any time soon
