Please use the /tellpet <commands>. Save all of us from having to put up with all your chatter spam. It saddens me as well when I see all these pets responding to weak unimaginative commands. A...F... 1.. 2..
If you make it as a macro and add them to your hot keys then you don't need to type your command over and over which allows youto be a little more creative.
Secondly, If you want to stay grouped with your pet but want to maximize your harvesting abilities let me suggest a Macro I made. You can make the same Macro for each type of creature resourse.
/tellpet <group pet command>;
/pause 5;
/harvest <resource type>;
/loot;
/tellpet <group pet command>
Since I am always grouped with my pet the first group command ungroups me with my pets and the last one groups me back with them. I have found that I needed to pause at least 5 for the Harvest command to work. I added the loot command for those times when hunting creatures that sometimes drop loot. Nothing worse than missing out on potential loot that can be used or sold.

About the /tellpet thing...Truer words have never been spoken
Before it was even put in, I felt badly about spamming the chat with, "ThingI attack", "ThingI follow", etc. and was very happy to be able to get rid of that annoyance. And I think that "a" and "f" crap is really silly as well, unless you're doing a tame-train-release strategy of leveling
No offense to those of you who spam my spatial with "a" all the time

I understand where your coming from but.....
... I am also a rifleman as well as a CH. In my 24 slots I have:
4 rifles (yes they are all necessary and used in different situations)
Attack
Kneel
Stand
Prone
7X Rifle special attacks
Pack of Stim B's
First Aid - Heal Bleed
2 X Traps
Wookie Roar
Burstrun
Tame (ok so I could drop this one.....)
Maskscent Macro
Peace Macro
Which means I dont have space for my CH commands in my toolbar. Therefore I use A/F/S so that in the heat of the moment it is like hitting a toolbar button. Sorry for cluttering the spacial, i know it can be a pain, but it's the best solution I have open to me.

No offense pal but.. BS. I'm a rifleman too and have my entire toolbar filled with rifleman hotkeys, so you know what I did? I set up all the pet macros on my second toolbar ( hit the arrow keys next to the toolbar) it's easy as pie to switch between the two after you get used to it and it spares a ll the spamming.
Oh and another thing, not only am I rifleman, but my pet commands are spelled out aswell (my attack command is "sic'em!" and my follow command is "c'mon" etc,etc. and when I don't feel like switch tool bars I just type them out. it honestly does NOT save you that much time If you need your hands free to move then just go into third person turn yourself away from your opponent and hit numlock, easiest way to kite.

All you have to do to get me to do this is have SOE fix tellpet so it works reliably. lol I will never understand people. If you look at the originator's sig he is probably a merchant class. Yeah, right bud, my a aa in the middle of no where is much more annoying than your spamming 20 line shouts every 15 seconds at the starport. lol

Another solution is to /alias a command.
Do this to set it up:
/alias tpatt /tellpet attack
Then next time you want your pet to attack:
/tpatt
Even better would be to remove your CH macros from your toolbar.
If you have a macro named "att" that attacks:
/macro att

I'd rather use spatial for RP purposes. That said, I use /tellpet for some commands like group that kinda make no sense RP wise.

With all of the other things that are broken with this profession, I can't believe that you would even make such a condescending post. If you want to complicate the way you play, then fine. Maybe you should find areas to play in all by yourself so your precious spatial isn't cluttered with others "weak unimaginative commands". How arrogant! Frankly, I call these "combat shorthand", the equivalent of short code words and gestures animal trainers use in the real world.
Geez, lighten up and get a life. If you let little things like this bother you, you're going to wind up with ulcers. Let all us "Novices" use what works best for us and we promise to grant you the same courtesy. In other words, mate, if I'm not stealing your kills or saying nasty things about you mother, mind your own business and we'll all be happier.

Actually I agree with the one-letter commands. That's just annoying.

screw making macros. Some people just do not have the space to put a macro in their 2hotbars.
You have weapons / attack specials / medic specials / non combat ( sit kneel stand mask scent )
You have weapons / attack specials / medic specials / non combat ( sit kneel stand mask scent )
So i use 1 letter commands.

I have all my regularly used combat and creature skills on what I call my "combat" toolbar. If you can't squeeze all your regular combat and pet stuff into 24 slots, chances are you've got stuff you aren't really using. I've divided all my skillsup like this, 1 bar for crafting, one for combat, one for emotes, one for every day stuff (surveying, vehicle, ad spamming and extra). Switching back and forth via the Ctrl+~ and Ctrl+Tab is so fast, it makes organizing macros and commands so much better.

create a tellpet macro
bind the macro to keys on the keymap...
numpad 7 - stay
numpad 8 - heel
numpad 9 - attack
never fails. no wasted toolbar slots.

My starting profession was scout and I soon added Creature Handler. My first Master Profession was Artisan and soon afer was Creature Handler. I have maintained Creature Handler and gone to add Pistoleer, Master Scout and Novice Ranger. Just because I have a really cool shop and take and resell a lot of merchandise does not make my words any less valid. Oh BTW I never stand at the star port spamming for business. Not even for pets. Its all by word of mouth and selling via Auction board.
