Currently there is no way to choose which food to feed your pet. This is a problem when you have really expensive buff food in your inventory and you want to feed you pet some blob candy but instead it eats your premium canape. I don't know if the solution is to create a new kind of pet food that pets will automatically eat first or just put a drag or radial option in for feeding pets, but this is really am irritating design flaw that has existed as long as pets have.
Can we get this to the attention of the Devs?

There is a way.
Put the Chef foods in your backpack, or in a satchel or cargo pocket in your main inventory.
Don't leave food lying around in the inventory, the pets will eat anything, to include spice.
Foods not free in the main inventory will not be touched.

I get annoyed when I forget I have spice not in a bag. Damned pets ALWAYS eat that and not the Blob food

Do buff foods affect pet stats?
Only the food specifically for pet buffs (Blap biscuits, sweasonberry rolls, etc).
I have a satchel marked "food" where I keep my food and drink and only leave bofa treats lying around my inventory to feed the pets. The sweasonberry rolls are kept in the satchel too and they only get one dragged and dropped on them when they are good

But can you use food out of a satchel, or do you have to drag it to your inventory first? I keep my food on hotkeys, so I need to be able to use it that way.

You can eat food out of the satchel or even the backpack, and you can have it sit in one of those places and still be on your hotkeys.

There are certain foods that have a Species Restriction: Pets on them that are specially for pets.

Buffs? What are they?
My pets are my buffs!
Seriously, I very rarely ever stop for a buff before going out hunting as it's far more of a challenge and I find it much more fun....probably the way that 'they' intended the game to be played as well.
But what the hey, pet buff food does sound promising, reckon I'll go find some and try it out.

Yes, I am aware of pet food. I have food that says it's only for pets. Only it has never increased any of their stats. That's why I was asking if anyone has the names of the food that will actually increase any of their HAM stats beyond their listed max stats. Thanks if anyone knows this info....no2

You have to drag this food onto your pet, not let them eat it from your inventory. (I think)
