Thread: Creatue Handlers and Faction
Why (if part of our class) do Creature Handlers pets take away from the faction points for kills.
I just played my alt Rifleman/TK (both to be), and realized I was getting like 3 times the faction points for doing destroy missions than my expireenced CH. Then playing around I realized all those little pesky guard that gaurd the base you are supposed to destroy normally give more exierence than the mission. Yet I was normally getting like 1-2 faction points for them.
Sure enough play around, and the percentage of damage you did (versus) pets (or others) seems to be how much you get of the potential faction. My question is does a Bounty Hunter lose faction when he spams knockdown for the kill, or a Rifleman uses Headshot 3, no using 'class abilities' does not lower their points they get. Well for CHes are 'class abilitiy' is to have better pets, that help us, yet we LOSE faction points when we use them.
Sure if pets gave us faction when a novice could have three rancour, then it would not have been fair. Now however, our 'pet' ability is a direct representation of how far we have gone in the CH profession. In that case we SHOULD get the credit for using our class ability (my planned profession was going to be master CH and Master medic, absolutely no direct combat myself (that was what pets were for); however now I see thaat getting faction would be almost IMPOSSIBLE.
Is this 'as planned' or an oversight.

If you want to get the same faction points at the same rate as the other combat classes, take the same risks they do.
Its something I've been screaming for awhile for. That and mission terminals to take accout of our called pets when setting the level of missions. Everyone keeps telling me "Oh you can still get missions for a couple of K worth of credits" No you can't not if you are a master medica Master CH. My max mission level is 7. Those that tell me to goto Lok or Endor to fight get real. Other masters get missions on Naboo and Tatooine, etc that are good. We should to.
I don't want combat xp from my pets.....I get CH XP. So saying next we'd want that is stupid. Faction XP should be granted. Currently since I can only get level 7-9 faction missions NPCs are a big part of my faction xp. I never even use my pets anymore. Thus I'm just a Pistol 3 novice marksman on missions so I get decent Faction xp.
Some faction missions need to be produced for doctors and other non combatants to I think.
Just responded to another post just like this one, but I'll get this one bumped too.
Here's my post there, http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=creature_handler&message.id=49553
Wow, I'm not the only one.
Another Master Doctor/Creature Handler here. About halfway up the CH skill tree, had to drop artisan and my ability to survey to get marksman back and take pistol 1 and 2 to use my scout blaster. They seriously need to change the pets not giving faction problem, as well as pet levels not counting into your difficulty rating on missions.
Lets keep this bumped and see if it can make the list for next week, as its a SERIOUS problem to many of us.
Oops and meant to post what I get for faction for my CH / Scout as well.
I am a rebel - covert.
I get missions out of Ancorhead usually. With two pets out I get 7-12 faction per mission (killing the lair) and 2-6 points per imperial kill.
And it would be 5 times faster atleast for you do do Delivery missions in AH to get that same amount of faction.
That's what I thought, but not very fun.
I can get about 200-300 faction experience an hour in ancorhead (more if I don't watch TV at the same time), but it's about the most boring thing there is.
I'm about to venture up north on Corellia to see what's happening in that Civil War zone.

Umm, I am taking the same risks as every other combat class. I get good old Tip to stand between me and the mobs, they get 'Knockdown', personally knockdown is A LOT more protection than tip.
Point is pets are a feature of my class, they are something I have spent lots of points on, they should count as me doing it. Should I get weapon expierence, nope I am not using weapons. Should I get combat expierence, don;t really care since do not need. Should I get the faction, when my class ablity defeats a mob, YES!
Peace
