What was the time factor/ cost in the pre and post nerf environment. I am wondering this because I find it exceptionally strange that it is actually takeing me much longer to grind now then it did before 90% kinetic ubese armor, buffs, T21s (for riflemen), brandy etc.

Pre nerf: 2 months mostly fighting in large groups because that was the only way to take down larger creatures. Used 2 different laser rifles and the same set of armor got me through it

Post nerf: 2 months and counting, Dozens of sets of buffs for myself and my pets, 1 case of brandy, 2 T21s (yes I actually killed 1 rifle from 100% to 0% condition), 3 sets of ubese armor, plus the 20K xp I had banked, and maxed rifle xp with trips to the village 11+ times.

so for analysis of xp gain
9.9 million+ rifle xp
1.1 million+ combat xp
960K CH xp

It took me about a month to master CH. I worked on it as I was mastering Pike. As soon as I got master pike, I moved from grinding on Dant to Dath, and went after rancors. With a lvl 16 femaleplains tusk cat, I got about 1k xp per kill. Obviously, I went through several pikes in the process, and a fair number of buffs and pet stims, and lots of brandy. I also think I went through 2 full sets of ubese. I don't have any figures for how much it cost, but I think you get the idea.

I did Master CH in 4-5 days, the trick is to get 2 good low-level pets (around level 10 and level 20) from a Bio-E and wait for them to be adults. Once adults,I hit Dathomir and did Kamuriths and Rancormissions. Around 600 to 1000 EXP a kill. Bull Rancors gave me 1400 or 1600 I think.

My other profession is MTK, so that must've helped a lot. I gotta say that I'm on grinding path for the FS skills, soit was at least 2-3 hours per day. That too helped alot and did not slowed me too much, except the 60 seconds and 15 seconds waiting.

Best of luck to you

PS : Get your weapons fixed by an WS when they hit 20% condition. They (WS) have a better chance then non-WS people and at 20% condition, you don't loose the 20% reduction cost too many times. Of course they can still fail but it's a good gamble I think, same goes for armor. I used to repair at 55% and a WS and AS told me that trick. So I repair less and the weapon is good for a longer time.

I doing the Dathomir thing now. Yes, I slacked off and got sidetracked, that's why I'm not master yet(hangs head in shame), but Dathomir is a gold mine.

If you try to grind CH like you would a normal profession your going to be geting CH xp abou the same rate as combat XP which means that you could master another Master combat prof 10 times before mastering CH. The best way by farto grind ch is to use broken spawns like endor 0,0. But if you dont want to grind in a way that could be considered an exploit then the best way by far is to grab a buff for yourself and your lvl 10 pet and camp meatlump spawns with a good afk macro. Heres the one I use

(forgive me if the syntax is wrong on one or more lines)

/target corpse;

/pause 0.1;

/loot;

/pause 0.1;

/ui cycle next target outward;

/pase 0.1;

/tellpet attack;

/pause 3; (gives it time to land a hit)

/uber one shot kill attack;

/pause 0.1;

/macro macro name;

Heres a few more tips for this tactic.

1. find a lone spawn in a unused city on some out of the way planet because other players camping the spawn really messes it up because in general its gonna be some n00b/loot whore wanting XP, cash, or both (I generally tip the n00bs that come by my spawn 10k so they can go grab a buff to grindand leave me alone)

2. set your pet to guard.

3. Go with an empty inventory armor and a backpack because your gonna collect LOTS of junk from looting these guys.

4. Come back toy our computer ever hour or so and clear out your inventory of useless junk because that looting macro wolnt loot the corpses so they can respawn if your inventory is full.

Enjoy!!

I am redoing CH now after dropping it over a year ago after the nerfs. I am doing it on my alt who has no other combat skills so it's a bit rough. The best thing I have found to do is go the the NPC battlefield on Corellia (somwhere south of Rogue Corsec POI) and grind there. There are usually Rebels there camping the Storm trooper spawns so I sit about 80m back and have my pet attack what they are attacking. It's hard to do afk because the ST's will run if they aggro your pet, but I did 0102 in like 3 hours off an on again while I was reading. Once you can use two pets I imagine my time will go down considerably. This is really the first time did the CH "grind" back when I was new I just ran around with my pet using it as a tank while I did rifles, and taming pets I saw that I thought looked cool. even without combat skills to back me up CH has been a lot of fun so far, I wish I had thought to go back to it a long time ago

The 2 pet trick has been nerfed. The xp is divided between the 2.

Oh yeah big time

Nothing like doing a Kimo hunt on Lok in a huge group and getting 2k CH xp per pet or 4k a kill. I used my twin dewbacks

I did most of my regrind with help from the PA; group of 4-5 high level players and enraged rancor missions on Dathomir. Using a single GSP to get hits on the rancors, 1300 XP per enraged rancor, a set of 8 to 10 missions would be enough for me to rack up 90-110k XP per trip, with a few sideshows of aggro beasties in transit and the occasional aggro from some nearby lair.

Then again, most of my original grind back after launch was in groups on places like Lok, the Agrilat Swamp, Endor, and Dath.

I can tell you that at the time of the nerf I was a 2-2-2-3 CH. It took me far longer finish than it did to get the first 9 boxes, at least 5x as long. The xp grants for CH are very low and fairly unrewarding. It did make it a bigger deal when I did finaly get a box. Early after the nerf I posted saying XP grants seemed to low and got labled a noob and blasted for not knowing how to play the game.

I was 3-2-4-4 befor I found the Geo caves and then went on to master in less than a week. Looking back I would have to say that I wish all profs took as much work as CH, it would add more value to the master title, but if others had to earn xp at the rate we do, they would give up and leave the game. To get good xp you have to use low level pets that are less effective or go for BE uber pets with low levels.

Since we are talking about CH xp I'll bring this up, how come in the vill, we can trade in our xp for a FS skill that we can't so the quests for? So basicly I can't use my CH xp ( some of the hardest xp to get in the game ) for anything in FS. :/

Anyway, after the nerf CH xp has become amoung the hardest in the game to get, making CH IMO a more meaningfull prof because of the difficulty. I just wish the outcome was as rewarding as the xp is difficult to get.
