Thread: PET FOODS DO THEY WORK ?
They do work.....
Well, they did. I haven't fed one of my children a pet food recently. Now that I'm near master doc, I just buff the heck out of them (a 2000 point buff on a lesser dewback practically turns it into a regular dew).
You actually don't have to drag the food over the pet. You can just use the pet's radial menu to feed them. As for stat changes, I've never seen them actually work on pets.
However, feeding your pet DOES heal it's wounds. I fed them because they were whining after thier Bull Rancor (nasty open wounds DOT) fight, and BOOM. Thier health and action wounds were gone. So food works for that at least.
Just would have been nice to know beforeI made the woundpacks...
They is no pet foods, only foods make and named to pet food.
Pet food heals the damage(wounds) of the health and action bars of your pet.
Jetman is talking about the new "Species Restriction: Pet" foods that were introduced as part of the Chef Revamp. These foods do buff a pet's HAM bars. Blap Biscuits, for example, buff the pet's Health.
Using the radial menu to Feed the pet won't take advantage of the special buffing properties, though. It'll just heal the Health/Action wounds as though it were regular, run of the mill food. You need to drag and drop the food on the pet as Jetman did (which gives you a "Yummy!" message in spatial from the pet). If you're getting the "Yummy!" message, though, you should be seeing an effect from the buff. Jetman, what are the stats on the food you're using?
There were three foods...one eachfor Health, Action and Mind. I don't remember the names, but one was a biscuit. Each one of these foods had "buffs" over 1000, for some thing around 40 minutes. I have found that by using the radial menu to feed the pet, the pet can eat ANY one of several foods that might be in your inventory. So the dragging of the food worked well, and I could pick the food and the pet to receive the food. By storing the pet after each food, you can actually buff all three stats and get around the "one buff per hour" recommendation.
I watched the HAM bars and wrote down stats before feeding. Over the course of an hour, nothing changed on each pet's stats. I did low level pets and high level pets. No change, although they did seem happier. Man, attached to computer game pets...I can't explain it, but I am. Rather than do away with my pets to start a new profession, I went out and bought a second game/account and started a new character.
Actually, there are 4 pet foods. One will raise all three of the HAM bars - Sweensonberry Rolls. Very nice. After dragging it onto your pet and getting the 'yummy' message, your pet's HAM will indeed go up. I use it all the time. When the food wears off, you can just store your pet and recall it to feed it again, or wait until an hour has passed since you fed it. The Rolls I bought last an hour though, so I don't have to bother with that.
