Thread: Idle Hands....And more phony rhetoric of SWG
For the most part I agree.
I no longer look at the CH board when at work. My freetime there is spent elsewhere. There is no communication coming to us. All I wanted was one red name to appear on this board. That hasn't happened in a long time. Even just a hello was sufficient for me, but that thread is gone now, and good riddance. I will still hold onto CH, for now. We will see what becomes of us in the near future. As far as, the combat revamp? Hmmm... If I am still here we will see. Things are definitely dark nowadays here.
I am now at the point where I want my Z95 and forget about the worlds of this game and take off into Space where skill will account for at least a little bit.
CHs, we are in a dark time indeed.
Hi
No comment to the dev's on this post, as Pluto9Moon has said it for me,,,, i agree with you 100%
**Master Creature Handler * Master Teras Kasi**
NO CAPTAIN, I SEE NO SHIPS JUST HARDSHIPS
I feel the need to play Devil's Advocate. Now that's not to say I don't agree with you. I do, for the most part. Your post is eloquently stated, however, my feeling is that it's only dealing with one side of the coin.
Let me get this straight, you agree with stripping CH to its skivvies calling it the first part of combat rebalance. Forcing us to wait for anything positive to occur to us. Giving others more power than they already have. Making us watch with no contact, other than being told wait for the combat rebalance. Nothing new can come until the combat rebalance, we can have nothing new until then. We wait as the only combat profession that is totally useless in PvP. For what? The magic finger snap? BH's needed a 10K exploding bot like I need a hole in my head.
I was gonna comment how the professional forums are dead.
It seems many have lost faith in recieving any communication at all. There are 100's of brilliant ideas I have seen go to waste because the "lurking devs that are here but don't post" seem to ignore them.
/agree 100%
and as a side note, You (SOE) has stated how JTL will have a 1 month to 1.5 month beta testing stage. Do you really think that will be enough seeing that 1 year post launch the combat in SWG in general is still riddled with bugs and exploits??? Soon you will have double the work to do what then???
I actually don't agree with what was done to us. But it's been done and there's no use crying over spilled milk. We've made our pleas, we've argued our positions, and we've bled rivers. It's gotten us nowhere. For me, I have decided to forgo the screaming and ranting and simply try to look at it from their point of view. Beyond that, there's not much we can do, because as I said, the spotlight is no longer on us. Sadly. ![]()
CH's this is my disclaimer to you. I have tried for months now to represent our community in a positive aspect. Some time soon I will return to that. This is just a depressive cycle I am certain. The forums as a whole have slowed to a snails pace. The past few weeks it has taken days to get the least popular ideas to move to page 2. Even the DE forums have slowed to a crawl.
My perceptions:
1) TH's role is useless. Except where one believes that Idle hands are the play things of the devil. TH's Know your role post coupled with 19 Questions infer that any class could expect some change through communication. We have yet to hear back from Know your role. 19 Questions again has stocked answers and no one really has learned any thing. The belief of SOE at this point is to take TH and make him ask a question that warrants critical thinking from respondents. This critical thinking takes away from currently toned and flaming forums. Idle hands type mean messages. Mean messages do not look good to new customers.
2) If you can't dazzle em with brilliance, baffle em with bullpucky. The lack of fixes in this game and for CH specifically is deplorable. We all know that. I will not get caught up in shiny little toys such as Corvette, Geo Lab, or Death Watch. While those answer some content questions for some we still have little we can do as a result. CH's are not wanted in groups do to large size of some creatures and the tendency of pets who fall under such states as dizzy, bleed, stun, etc., etc., to pull the mob away from other melee combatants. My pet should not act as AI once I tame it. Running is not an option. Fix that. PERIOD.
3) Faking the Funk. SOE and SWG in general are continuing to develop JTL as if nothing at all is wrong with AED. While some will redicule me and say it is just a game have fun. The fun ceases when we are told nothing new until JTL and Combat Rebalance. IF this systems are so ALL IMPORTANT to new content why are ANY revamps taking place prior. We are already seeing other professions that do well on their own get bright new shiny sellable and powerful things. You can lie to some people but you cannot lie to me. Confucious states to do an action first and then talk about it after. You can never be pointed out a liar. If new content for CH must wait, then so should others.
4) Money is the root of all evil. SWG continues to collect our fees without any representation in the SWG universe. We have persistently asked for some line of communication. It is not forthcoming.
So I have nothing to do tonight. Knowing I will not buy JTL in any near future I spring on over to the MEO boards. I haven't participated on them at all. Got me a nice new handy dandy P9M user name. Much to my suprise I found out MEO is not coming out until next year. Next year in the third quarter even. So what is the MEO Dev team doing in the process? Well let me say it was not attending E3 or any Fan Fest.
MEO Team
WROTE:
Basically, it's a question of time. There is a good amount of time that goes into making a demo for E3. We actually have to budget that time well in advance and it takes away from actual game content.
Obviously, E3 is really important to us. It's the best place to demonstrate the game to the widest possible audience of press, retailers and distributors.
However, the game is more important at this time, and we felt that spending the time we would have spent on an E3 demo would be better served in the actual game itself.
In the long run, you will get more polished fun game that is even truer to Tolkien. And that's what's important.
I highlighted and boldened for dramatic effect. These people seem as tight lipped about this game as well, but they DO seem to want to bring out a perfect game that is not 70% broken. Nor does it look like there will be overly dramatic nerfs to the one profession that DOES work.
Tray. I do ask you to pardon me for earlier. I have stated elsewhere I am entirely frustrated. The one thought I was savoring is that MEO would be out soon and I could jump ship when everyone Jumps to Lightspeed.
When life hands you lemons....AT LEAST MEO HAS NOT STARTED BETA YET. I may still have a chance to get beta and beg for a Beorn type character class. Animals rock.
Woohoo!
Only two more days til I stop paying for this disappointment.
I'd like to thank the devs for sucking out any hope that they will make CH viable (read: comparably useful) with their silence and disdain for the class.
It's too bad. I had a lot of fun hunting for rares. Crawling into a nest of 8 Rancors for one baby with real sweat running down your neck is good stuff. Too bad there's no point in having a rancor now.... or anything else.
Nice to see both sides of an argument presented without the flames.
Though what Tray says is true on the surface, I have to lean more to Pluto's side here:
Communication to the customers is poor. At some point I start to question whether everything is really top-secret or they really don't know the answers.
This is one of the higher-priced MMOs. If we believe their subscription numbers, they are making substantial money over their overhead cost of NOC, bandwidth, support. The NOC and bandwidth 5yrs ago would have been astounding, but not really true in 2004. Better technologies and lower costs.
The expansion shouldn't be funded or carried on the backs of existing users, unless of course it's going to be free. Dev costs are recouped on sales of the expansion, just like any other piece of software.
But I don't see a whole lot of promise from the future MMOs either. I think our expectations for them are so high, we're pushing the Dev envelope to the max.
