i wonder if everyone is right about the need to train L1 and L2 abilities before a L3 can be trained.....if thats not the case than maybe pinning attack is only a L3 ability.....just a quess, has anyone tried training pinning attack L3 yet?
All specials will have L1, L2, and L3. I believe that in order to learn an L3 you first have to have learned L2, and in order to learn L2 you need to first have L1. So if Pinning is only L3, people are going to have a tuff time learning it.

You can learn any Level of Ability at any time. You don't need the lower level learned first.
In order to teach a pet ahigher levelAbility, the pet must have the previous level Ability.

seems like a congress style loophole to me there with L1 and L2 pinning attack AWOL after 2 weeks into the new system going live.....root is the only ability that could make a CH template PVP worthy IMO so hopefully this is not the case

I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm pretty sure that Pinning Attack is going to be a pretty random find. Also keep in mind that the forum using community isn't the majority of SWG community. Any guesses on how many CHs out there have the Ability but haven't posted about it becuase they don't use the forums? Chances are, if 2 people have reported it on the forums, there are at least 20 people on all of the servers that have the Ability.
Begin that it is such a useful, and powerful, Ability, the low percentage of finding this Abilitiy is a good idea. Otherwise, everyone would have a pet that could Intimidate and Snare, which would lead to an eventual nerf bat swing.
I had concidered the problems involved with pinning being found by every CH out there and then being trained to lvl 10 pets for every uber leet pvp'er on the servers to use... but just making it hard to find will only delay this from happening for so long if there is no limit in place for a lvl 10 non CH pet to not be able to be trained these skills....i can already imagine the bria trade forum posts offering lvl 10 pvp "root pets" selling for millions.....IMO this should be a master lvl only skill, rather than being impossible to find

Root is not as effective as a snare. You root some one to prevent them from running away. You snare someone to kite and evade.
SO
If someone were to use a Non-CH pet with root, they would have to use it right away (Or the pet would be killed), killing the main purpose of root, to pervent your weakened enemy from escaping.
Yes pinning is gonna be great for PVE, but unless your a BH, ganking a Jedi who is low on health and force in the middle of a duel/battle, pinning has limited Non-CH pet PVP aplications due to the nature of pet combat.
I would also like to say that L3 Hamstring should be as strong as charge shot (If L3 exists for Hamstring, if not L2 should be a little less strong when compared to Charge shot)

Are you sure about this? I pretty sure a friend of mine train a level 3 to a pet without having any other skill levels.
You can learn any Level of Ability at any time. You don't need the lower level learned first.
In order to teach a pet ahigher levelAbility, the pet must have the previous level Ability.
