This would free up some point to put in a real combat class.

I am a MCH from day 1, lost hope a few times but I will never give it up.

The day I drop it I stop playing and move on.

Sorry, but like many BH's I would rather see my primary class be effective than have to take something I don't want in order to get the effects I deserve.

Alas both scout lines are actually useful, mask scent and harvesting. I wish I had enough points to do a combat profession as well as BE and CH but rather unfairly mastering those two only leaves you with enough points for one tree of a combat profession. While my friend has mastered 3 professions with each of her characters. Dropping the organic chemistry tree of BE would be good and include the making of the basic stim parts into the BE trees instead, and that would free up more points for me to do CH/BE and have a combat profession. Ah Im dreaming here lol, ignore me. I know it wouldnever come to pass it would mean I'd have more fun

could be a catalyst for disaster - they would no doubt reduce our strength in compensation.

What strength? They did that, and more 7 months ago. The big danger is they would do the same as they did to Bounty Hunter. "There, we reduced you point requirements you are done. Time to go play with JTL now." Now that I think about it... In December we got, "There, we have killed your profession. Time to go play with Jedi now."

what if they made it so we had to master scout, but gave us back our CL150 cap?

I think we need to use more skill points, not less. If we want to be effective, they can't see us as a combat class with two super-strong weapons, ie. our character AND our pet. It's got to be one or the other, for which the only effective thing I can see them doing is limiting the amount of combat skill we can have if we're going to go high on the CH ladder by not leaving us the skill points to take something else in.

*chuckles* I went and posted for you when it first came up, but I don't think they listened to me any more than they did anyone else.

I picked up MCH with my extra points, cuz I've alwasy enjoyed pets (before they dropped the skill points, I was MBH with 4/3/0/0 CH) and with CH it doesn't make me specialize in 1 weapon, like taking Carbineer or Pistoleer would

I have been away for a while, but I still think the best way to ballance CH without having to nerf the crap out of pets (more) would be to have a CH only weapon (like a whip, or some other device to control our creatures). One line of CH should give us specials we could use to increase our pet's damage, and when not using the CH weapon, pets do less damage, and are more likely to run away. That would allow them to give more power to pure CHs while controlling the power of CH dabblers.

Now THAT is a good idea! Hmm . . . something like a low-powered vibro-lance, almost like a cattle prod, that does electrical damage or something. *chuckles* A whip would be cool, but enough people complain that people are using swords and hammers, next they'll be saying they confused the movie with Indiana Jones.

Two branches is fine (Exploration and Harvesting) ... besides, they are very useful branches. It's not like Bounty Hunter where they had to master Scout even though only one branch was logical for their profession. We NEED the Exploration branch for Mask Scent (good luck without it), and the terrain negotiation is great. The harvesting branch makes sense because Creature Handlers should possess some knowledge about creatures, both hypothetically and literally (or do you not care about seeing whether or not a creature deathblows or if it's tameable?). Not to mention to To-Hit bonus on creatures you get for ranged weapons because of the harvesting branch.
