Thread: How many of us send pets at different targets at once?
PeteTownshend wrote:When you have two pets out at once, do you tend to send them after the same target, or do you send each pet after a different target? I have been thinking of rearranging all of my pets' combat commands (attack, special 1 and special 2) to deal with this. Any thoughts?
When I can get them out I keep 3 out. Depending on the tactial situation I either
send in 1 pet and watch (fire my horrably nerfed republic blaster if i am bored)
Send in 2nd pet if first is having trouble.
or
send in 2nd pet to attack another attacker.
Keep 3rd pet for emergencys (team member attacked by unexpected source)
rotate and heal the most damaged while the other 2 fight
I tend to have my pets grouped in sets based on how many i can call due to level. I assign different command to each of the 3 and so on to allow individual control over group(g,gg,ggg), attack(k,kk,kkk), follow (f,ff,fff).
store is all a once since the timer prevents early store. specials are ignored since they dont work. Tricks are given to all pets at once.
Using this gives me some measure of crowd control ability and avoids committing all resources early in a battle.

I have two level 35cats out at once. As long as you keep them fed and pretty well healed during your hunts, you'll be fine. I GROUP them to have visual contact with their health, attackes, and distances. I have simple commands for each cat. It is easy to send them together or separately. I like the flexibility of sending one and holding one back. One has ranged attack, and the other knockdown or dizzy capabilities. On occasion, they will drift off, if they start to get hammered so keep them healed between lairs or NPC's. You can send one to attack and the second to "guard" and protect your back. Other CHshave watched my two cats operate and they have started it also. Really came in handy in the Geo Bio Cave. If, I have time, I still like setting up a camp to call them out...in a lot of ways it's quicker. It's as simple as one cat has an attackcommand of "a" and the other has "aa". A little tip...in the heat of combat, I found out that it was easier to make decisions when my cats were TWO DIFFERENT colors. You don't always have time to look at group charts.

Well said Jetman. I have actually made use of this with low-level mounts. for example, I'll sometimes have a giant carrion spat as a mount when I use my good old greater sludge panthers out (yes, I still use them). The cats attack using one command, and the mount has a separate command unique to my mounts. That way the level 7 bird doesn't get sent in to rumble against vicious opponents.
I'm actually looking for a BE to make me two new sets of leve 35 pets, each with a different color. This was mostly for aesthetic considerations, but I can see how useful it would be in identification. That's actually why one of my favorite combos is Grand Wrix/Crimson Razor Cat, GSP/Crimson Razor Cat or GSP/Grand Wrix. Easy to see who's who.
I'll experiment with this, and also try to work in specials. I've had a lot of luck with combining the follow target command with the special commands for things like dizzy and blind, much less so with knockdown or poison, but I do tend to use them in every fight. I'll let people know how it goes.

Very similar to my method. I have 1 lvl 60 BE gurrcat.
1 lvl 35 BE razor cat and 1 Lvl 33 tamed hurrton
1 lvl 25 Grand Wrix (recently captured and tamed), 1 lvl 25 GSP (or 2 gsps) and 1 lvl 19 Humbba I think.
These are the 3 groups. I am watching BE sales looking to modify add to the above so I have a 3 pet combo with armor that totals 70 ( and low of about 20)
a 2 pet combo with light armor and high resists
And a 1 pet set.
I have several of each combo to allow me some flexibility in which I select (HAM,Resists, damage) tough most often it is some form of cat cause they seem
to have the least trouble keeping up with my speederbike.

With sharnaffs, and multiple bulls were out, who always BAF, I'd let the GSP go in and draw all the aggro, then send the CRC in on the the bull that was not engaged initially by the GSP. That way the CRC would be dealing damage that otherwise would not be dealt on the second bull. I'd concentrate my fire on the primary target and switch to secondary once the primary was disposed of.
With three bulls on the lair, this could get overly exciting...that's where the reserve comes in. And of course, it's always possible that one of the bulls would decide to aggro on me, which is also the job of the reserve pet to pick up.

Keep it simple. The more complex you make your battle plan, the better the chance you have of screwing things up.
I use my pets for crowd control purposes when necessary. Just two, though. (If they're low enough level for me to have 3 out, they get a little too beat up.) I figure they don't do any significant damage anyway, so I have the pets hold down the extra enemies while I finish them off one at a time. I'm often grouped and if crowd control of the enemy isn't needed, then I'll use a single larger pet.
It's an effective strategy if you're dealing with multiple mobs at once and your pets can tank well. (Also good if yo u're harvesting low level stuff for resources.)
