I was out leveling my pets and I realized in the time it takes me to learn two level 2 abilities I could cap all my XP from being a BH and get roughly 300K - 400K CH XP and then realized that by the time I was done learning all the new abilities that I could quite possibly complete the FS grind or come really close. Then I realized something else that almost made me cry. If i got a Jedi I would have to re-learn all the new abilites on a new characterfrom scratch and essentially do the equivilant of another FS grind!

No other normal profession has to grind so long for so little power so why should we?

Well, you can train all the abilities you want on the good pets then transfer them to your new character (don't forget transfer!) when you unlock.

Well, to level up your second character to be a CH to enjoy those pets you would get many of those abilities on the way. You may not have everything by the time you reach Master Handler, but you should be a good ways towards it.

(And I'm half-joking, half trying to think of some way to salvage the situation.)

I have no plans to become a jedi, but I still think the xp requirements are unreasonable to be polite about it. It's bad enough that we have to level up a pet once in order for it to get training xp, but we have to level it up multiple times to learn an ability. I've learned 3 L1 abilities so far, and one pet had to level up 4 times, one 5 times and the other 6 times before I learned the abilities (thattookalot of xp). I shudder to think about leveling up pets with L2 and L3 abilities - the xp requirements could be mind boggling.

*edit* checked xp requirements for pets. The one that needed to level up4 times was CL 25, so it needed 62575 per level. So that's over 250K right there. The one that needed 5 was only CL 5 so that's just shy of 28K, and the one that needed 6 was CL 14, so that's almost 137K. Call it 514K total- alot of xp to learn for L1 abilities, IMHO.

It all depends on how your going about leveling. For high level pets, a group is always the best option. Go into a group, do NOT group your pet with them unless your short handed (my grouped CL70 bantha was able to hold aggro for the group, against multiple CL+80's due to his high health, till we got some heavier firepower), and you'll notice several thousand XP gained for 1 kill. While training my Mature Reptilian Flier, CL69, I actually managed to get over 100K XP from a single good lair. Sure it'll take you multiple lairs, but raising a CL10 like this seems to takeclose to thislong when useing this meathodfor some reason.

Lower CL pets gain XP at a lower rate than pets of high CL. The trick is to find something simmiler in difficulty to your high CL pet as you did your low CL pet. I'm not a combat CH, only CL58, so my best option is to group with others. It's not like I'm dead weight or anything though, keeping an eye on everybodies health and healing whoever seems to be drawing th aggro.

I am very aware of the best way to level, but that dosent mean its going to be easy.

To salvage the should make it that you get your alt when you reach the point where you go glowey then allow you to decide wich char gets the glowey either your new alt or you old completed char. Because of the hard grind on the professions I chose I will slap the old man when if he ever comes to me trying to get me to become jedi.

Ok in the time it took me to learn one level 2 ability and get halfway on another I was able to cap 1.2 mill rifle XP, 900K pistol XP, 900K carbine XP, and300K combat XP. Ok so I figure it'll take me about 45 trips to the village to unlock. Now I got all this XP learning ONE ability. We have 75 total to learn! Its offical the CH grind is now as bad as the Jedi grind.................

This is PRECISELY the situation I am facing.

Tazz is most likely going to unlock (after dithering around for a year) his last FS branch in the next day or so. The FS XP is already there to train the branch and trigger the second old man visit.

Then the issue is, what does he do with this?

He's been grinding away on the new CH system as if this were never going to happen. It's something to do, even if it does get repetitive, but honestly, as grinds go, it's not nearly as onerous as Zanti's BE crafting or chef grinds.

Of course, I have yet to experience the Jedi grind. Only heard about it.

And the new alt will be, in all likelihood, at final template a MCH/MBH with some odds and ends (like being a level 80 surveyor).

My only hope is that aggression is as good as I've heard, and that once again I can have tanking pets. Because a level 60+ critter befriended to a Jedi would be VERY helpful.
