Thread: State of the profession: BUGS!! 5/14/04
Greetings fellow CH's (and even you damed Hologrinders)
I though I would put a little thread up seeing where we are and please add on cause these are just my experiences.
First and foremost bugs:
- Autostore is still at the top of our unsloved bug issues although now with the droid invasion and vehicles autostoreing we may finally gett some attention to it.
- It seems all the patch 6 bug fixes were in part undone with patch 8. Pets are back to invadeing our personal space, Issues with pets running in combat (to get to that ideal attack range) I have also noticed Pets have difficulty attacking lairs. they slowly crawl up to it expecting it to charge them or something.
- Mounts sometimes they follow sometimes not.
- Warping pets, one min they are there fighitng alongside you the next 100M in the air, seems the devs forgot why they eliminated this bug and reintraduced it as a AI fix.
- Posion and disease special attacks seem to still not be working On command. (yes they randomly use their specials)
- /tellpet still not working reliably
- Extremely delayed healing, you can hit your pet with a stim or have them do a trick and nothing happens
Bug Fixes:
- I can proudly report my cu-pa no longer fidgets (then again I never saw it fidget in the first place) but others have reported this
Economy:
- We are still reliant on BE's for most in demand Non-ch pets and most non-ch's are unwilling to pay much for the "service" of mounting a pet or training one.
- Almost 0 demand for natural pets, and only a slightly larger one for BE'ed pets. My guess is MD buffs replaced the pet as a tanking power, this will probably be addressed in the combat revamp.
- 2 most popular mounts (relative term here) Cu-Pa and Bantha have no Non-CH natural tame, we are 100% reliant on BE's to provide these pets.
PvE:
- Because both our pets and Creatures were equally reduced in quality (read nerffed) there is not much of a problem here, just the bug issues.
PvP:
- Working specials allow for CH to be of some use in PvP however once again a master Elite can take down our pets in 3 specials or less, again to be addressed in the combat reveamp
- Our promised no Vit loss seems to have hit the back burner big time. We were originally told it would not make it into patch 6 with the rest of the No decay rules, however patch 8 has come and gone with no word on the status of this. This was announced back on 1/28/04, that's right 3+ months ago Vert has been unable to obtain any timetable for this. although he has made mutiple inquiries.
Mounts:
- No new mounts in the forseable future and now true benefits seem to be on the list to be added to mounts.
- Given that dorids have been given many more uses other than storage I do not think it unfair that mounts be given storage ability via a saddlebag that has to be created by another profession (artisan maybe) to make these diserable again. Vert can you look into this?
Rares:
- Still unknown is the spawn rate of some of these rares, Bull rancor seems to be the easiest to obtain and I use easy as a relative term. Easy compared to finding the Holy Grail, or Arc of the Covenant.
- It has basically been confirmed that there are over 100x more jedi than confirmed Rare baby sightings possibly more (jedi that is)
This ends my limited knowledge of the profession, again I ask all others to place there knowledge on this thread.
I will be updateing this post as people add more issues to make it easy for Vert to send to the devs or a dev to read (/ROFL like they read this forum)
Thank you

Nice work talon. I don't always agree with you but you put together an excellent well layed out coverage of the issues.
Yeah, added mount functionality (like saddlebags or Pluto's "fambaa shield generator" idea) is something I'm including in this mythical mount document I've been talking about for a while. I should have some time this weekend, so I'm really going to attack it and try to hammer out something semi-polished.

Excellent.
Pluto's "fambaa shield generator" idea is really a good one and could revolutionize PvP in SWG.
Functional saddlebags have been on my list of things we need for a long time.
Good work, crew.

You can use the ideas I made. I made a kind of draft list somewehere, I think its either in Pluto9s v2 of the coraal post, as soon as I find it, I'll link to it.
heres the link http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=creature_handler&message.id=177397#M177397 its about 11 posts down from the top. Feel free to use my idea Vert, that ones only a loose rough draft.

Very nice list.
I am going to throw my current status into this, just for reference as we each see and don't see particular bugs happen to us.
I have not seen a pet warp to the datapad in many months.
My pet specials for the most part work. Poison and disease approx 75-80% of the time. Others it depends, Knockdown never (Mountain Dew, GW). Dizzy, Stun, Blind tend to show the attempt about 75% percent of the time. Intimidate shows the attempt about 50% of the time.
Other stuff:
I used to see the Cu Pa fidget all the time, not as much in the past few months, but a lot last year.
In PvE, I would love to see all creatures get a bump in stats, or at least creatures above level 30. Things are way too easy with the weapons and buffs available to players.
I want the Rancor back to being a very feared creature. I pulled one out in Mos Eisley the other day to show a newb.Nearby this fencer was dueling a newbie brawler, I got a tell asking for me to send in my Rancor to help her. I felt ashamed to tell her that my Rancor is worthless in PvP and that the fencer would take him down in a few hits. She didn't understand.
Again, nice list.
green=comments
I added a bug or two that's not listed.

It'll definetly get attention since the vehnichle and some droid autostoring is annoying other ppl besideus us CHs, but it's gonna be very hard to track down.

- Mounts sometimes they follow sometimes not.
- Mounts are bugged in that if you are out of range (60m+ for me, not sure about melee ppl) of a target, they slowly move like they are using a ranged attack, when they have none.
- Warping pets, one min they are there fighitng alongside you the next 100M in the air, seems the devs forgot why they eliminated this bug and reintraduced it as a AI fix.
- Posion and disease special attacks seem to still not be working. My merek poisons just fine, although when I try to do the specials command, it doesn't really work.

Vert can you look into this? I agree, there is lots of potential for this. Although I think we should be able to make the saddlebags ourselves so that we have at least something in the economy. However, to tie into artisan/tailor, we would need to use tissues or items from them.
Rares:
- Still unknown is the spawn rate of some of these rares, Bull rancor seems to be the easiest to obtain and I use easy as a relative term. Easy compared to finding the Holy Grail, or Arc of the Covenant.

I agree JonJai on making the Rancor something to be feared again, as well as making the cats more formidable.
On autostoring, I sometimes have it, but my pets autostore the most on naboo near Moienia. It does happen occasionally elswehere, but not as often.

Thats a possibility, so we'd have to make some kind of database for ppl who are havinmg the autostore problem. Another way would be that the devs and thier programming team (or whatever team they'll use) would have to work with the whole CH community on all servers (probably one server at a time) to try and figure out whats going on. I think they may actually be able to figure out the CH autostore easier than the others because the pets are more visible and more interactive than the droids or vehnichles. They may have to do it like crash investigators and work backwards programming wise.

I avoid Naboo like the Plague, and I only go to Corellia as it is a stopping point between planets. I have a house on Tat, but I spend most of my time on Dath or Endor. I wonder if Autostoring is more prevalent on certain clusters of servers.
