It truly can be said the road to hell is paved with good intentions. . .

A friend and I, who is a MCH/Ranger went out hunting on Corellia last night. It was just a leisurely hunt. I was going to get some XP for Rifleman/CH and she wanted to get a wrix to replace the one she had. Since she had minimal combat skills, I was her cover. We get outside Coronet, not far, in fact, we could still see the city skyline in the distance. Following the river, we came upon some wrixes. I rifled them and waited. Sure enough a baby spawned and she tamed it. We then headed out a little farther, just walking around, when she sent me a tell through GROUP CHAT.

"$$%%^% you won't believe this!"

"What?" I responded

"A Plains Stalker."

"Here?" I had heard about GPSs spotted not far from the city. In fact one of the WPs on SWGCreatures was right outside Coronet.

"Yeah, about100 meters out."

I then noticed the RED dot on my HUD. I had ignored it at first, because I just thought it was a slice hound or rogue bagareset. Both of which I had already tamed.

So we headed in until we got within 64 meters. Sure enough, a GPS, feeding on some Corellian butterflies was in the distance. I got down prone, took aim and began head shooting it. It aggroed, of course, I managed to take it down with some help from my friend's gurreck and my BEslice hound. With the adult dead, we waited. Then travelling anothertwo hundred meters or soout, we saw another red dot on the radar. Another adult, just walking along. I rifled it. We then maintained our position, both of uswith our fingers crossed.

A yellow dot appeared on the HUD. My fingers almost trembled as I hit TAB.

A Great Plains Stalker Baby was there in the field. I quickly scanned the area to make sure no predators were nearby that could harm it. She led the way as her maskscent was more powerful than mine and she could tame the GPS and I could not. She was going to give it to me as a "gift", she had tamed hers months ago. I remained in the background while she approached. I kept a vigil on the perimeter in case anything spawned, because we were in grand wrix country.

The baby aggroed, which we expected, she retreated away, trying to shake the baby off. I had my rifle out, but knew not to fire at the baby, I was armed in case anything spawned. She ran toward me, with the baby still in tow. Then, the baby hesitates for a second and aggoes me. I immediately store my weapon beforemy default defenseactivates. I knew the procedure. I run around, knowingthe babies break aggroe, usually, sooner than their parents, so I'm figuring in a moment the GPS will break off it's "attack".

And then it happened. I guess in retrospect of what occurred, I was the one who was stupid. I should have been paying more attention to where I was running and I would have seen them and led the GPS away, in another direction. I heard it, more than saw it. That is probably what made it all the more painful. Several heavy energy blasts impacted behind me.

The yellow doton my HUD vanished.

Off to my left about 15 or 20 meters were ateam of Rogue Corsec Troopers. 3 of them, in fact. I had run right into theirarea of operatrions. I haveenough faction points with these Corellian cops that I can't even attack them. They consider me a comrade. Well, my comrades, seeing that I was in "danger", came to my aid and killed the GPS baby.

Needless to say I was bummed, as was my Ranger friend. So we headed back in to Coronet. So, tomorrow is another day.

The hunt goes on. . .

best thing about this thread

"feeding on some Corellian butterflies was in the distance."

That is roleplaying at its best. And hilarious.

Congrats!

That's pretty harsh. But wait... did you say these were Rogue CorSec or regular CorSec? Rogue CorSec are the bad guys... it's no wonder they'd pull something like this.

They might have been regular then. Because I get aggroed by Rogue Corsecs.

I am seeing things like this too. I will be working a lair on Endor and the next thing I know a group of Stormtroopers will show up and start shooting. I am neutral with no faction points either way. They do not attack me they attack the spawns from the lair. I have lost a few babies this way. Luckily, nothing rare. I normally go find something "interesting" to occupy their time. It is annoying for two reasons. First, they are kill stealing. If a player did the same thing I would tell him/her about it. Second, they kill babies that are non-aggressive, con yellow. I think some one should bring this to the Devs attention. Yeah, I know..... "Combat Balance."

I kinda feel for you, my friend killed a screecher last week as I was walking up to tame it.

Err, huh? when did you ever say hi in game? Wow. That is a bit out of left field. I always say hello at the very least if I do see a tell. It is possible that I might have missed it as I dont always have chat up in game and I play with the sound off a good bit.

As for the butterfly thing above, if THAT managed to offend everyone, it was just a funny visual. This great cat eating butterflys, THAT was what was funny, not anything to do with spelling(just look at my spelling) orgrammar..

Sry, didn't mean to hurt your feelings either...

I guess I need to be nicer to people or something, though I haven't tried to be an arse. I am very opinionated yes, but never try to be an arse.

That said, if you are interested in a couple of level 30ish pets wallach (for free) or if you see clowd (cause I know he might be interested), let me know as I am trying to clear up datapad space and have some very nice bio engineered pets that I just hate to delete as they are hard hard hard to come by on Kauri.

lemme know. I will be crouching in a hole somewhere licking my wounds...

It's no worries bro, I fogot to put the at the end of my post to show satire. You were at a shuttle port and I was a little Calamari trying to say hi, his name was Khales, and you never responded, you might have been afk. don't worry about it, I was just being a goof, sorry if I offended. I ain't CH yet on that server, still a scout, but working on it. Maybe later on.

Happy hunting.
