Creature Handler Archive

Well gang. I'm in a bind. Here's the story:

Yesterday, I went to visitmy friend and apprentice at Theed. I had to meet him because he was advertising for an elder purgoiss and I needed a babysiter for myArachne Widow. Well.....we were showing off our pets when, out of nowhere, some random player asks "do you wanta plains hunter?" I tell them "I already have one, but Wilow is looking." (I promised Lara that I'd help her find one.) The player willingly hands over the PH to me and I call both to compare colors. My friend flips out and tells me to give it to him. I couldn't do it because I knew Wilow wanted it too. So, I told him that I needed time to decide who it should go to.

Wilow is never on and I never see her around with her pets. The main reason I agreed to help her find one was because Lara is her cousin. She's a cat person, however, and this has been a "quest beast" for her. I just wish I actually saw her in-game. I did promise it to her first, but my apprentice now has my arachne widow and would probably never forgive me if I gave it to her.

Of course, Archiiedemonstrates the spirit of a CH (much like me) and is a showman (also like me.) He appreciates every creature he gets and I see him and his pets frequently at major starports. However, he also has the worst luck of all CHes. LOL. He's been looking for 3 months for a Great Plains Stalker (with only 10 spawns found and not a single baby) and has yet to tame any rares. I know his mindset, however. If I gave the plains hunter to him, he would potentially use it for evil. A plains hunter is all he needs to dangle over Wilow to intice her to offer a trade for her Wild Dune Boar.

Basically, Archiie argues that it is rightfully his because of his spamming at the starport. He says that if I wasn't there, it would belong to him. He also claims that Wilow has help from Lara finding creatures, where he has no support. I'm pretty much left in a bind andI don't know what to do. Suggestions are appreciated.

I'd just give it to your apprentice to make sure you get your widow back - then screw him. Anyone that whiny doesn't deserve to be a CH - those of us who have been doing it for a long time have had to put up with a lot worse than not getting the creature that we wanted...

Honestly, IMO, the cat should go to Wilow. You were going to help get her one anyway, so basically first come, first served as it were. I can also asume that her and Lara are your friends, so if you did not give it to them I am sure they would forgive you, but now it is a matter of principle. Your "apprentice" needs to be put in check. CHs don't beg or whine for hand outs...not real ones anyway. Besides, how is an apprentice supposed to learnif his master gives him all the answers (or in this case, the hunters).

I do have to put in a slight detail on wil's behalf; not every one can play 24/7 many have school or work, or both. doesnt dimish the effort provided in aquiering a pet.

She did get some rares, and did spend many many months looking for the wild dune boar, witch she got

All this wouldnt happen if soe would just make all animals have babies again.

Uhmm never on???...in my own defence i'm on maybe not all the time, but i work, so unfortuneatly i can't be on as much as i would like to be...also if i was Never on how did i get the WDB, 2 swamp stalkers ect no one gave them to me, i searched long and hard for all the pets i have, maybe i don't walk around with them out all the time but ask anyone who knows me in real life and they will tell you i'm not much of a show off...lol

Arachne Widows can be found, Plains Hunters cannot

As far as Wilow being on I have spoken to her with cross server tells and see her on almost everyday so I know she is an active player who deserves to have such a pet. Wilow has been a master ch for a long time and would like to see her get the plains hunter and as far as your apprentice goes if he doesn'tunderstand why you would give the hunter then he should take into acount that Wilow deserves the creature and in time he will as well.

I'd like to amend my suggestion. The rest are right - Willow should get it. I still stand by myadvice to screw the apprentice though. If he doesn't give back the widow, so be it, but if he thinks he doesn't get any support maybe he needs to see what it's really like not having any.

After much thought and reflection, I made my choice.

The Plains Hunter has found a home with Wilow.

For the past two days,I have been thinking about my own experiencesas aCreature Handler. I spent 7 months looking for a Giant Peko Peko. It was a quest beast for me and I was screwed over by so many people. One person finally obtained one and promised he would give it to me, but betrayed my trust. Despite the fact that we had an agreement, he stabbed me in the back. I promised Wilow that the first plains hunter to fall into my posession would be hers. Unlike my own experiences,I wanted Wilow to get her precious "quest pet."

I am still sorrowful for my good pal Archiie. He reacted the same way anyone else would. He loves every pet he gets and I jumped in front of him, on Wilow's behalf. He was excited and, then, crushed.

He made a good point about the profession. I'll try to get the gist of it.....he said "It's really upsetting that they keep making pets extinct. SOE is treating them more like rare items, instead of 'man's best friend'. Making pets extinct discourages Creature Handlers from actually using their beloved creatures and what results is a frustrating and upsetting experience for the player. If I could tame a Plains Hunter, I would, butinstead, Ihave to advertise in starports to try and get one. They've taken all of the fun out of our profession and it's a real shame. I havetried so hard trying to prove myself as a Creature Handler and at every turn, fate deals me the wrong hand. Every rare pet I have has been given to me (besides my giant magwax and desert vesp.) I won't stop looking untilI get my Great Plains Stalker, though. That's one pet I want to tame on my own. The profession I love only results in animosity and hurt feelings, but I will go on."

I really felt for Archiie and I pray that SOE brings the fun back to the Creature Handler profession. We've been made a mockery by the rest of the community and I think it's time we get some compensation. If Vertexton reads this, please forward Archiie's quote to the proper people. I'm truly disheartened how SOE disregards the effects of their actions. There have been so many people effected negatively within the Creature Handler community. It's time to clean up the mess, SOE: For the sake of all Creature Handlers.

Once again, congratulations Wilow. Take good care of the Plains Hunter.

I would have to say that if you don't tame it yourself then it might as well be a Plains Hunter made by a BE from PlainsHunter DNA. I would have wanted to wonder the wilderness with Willow to find it, cool pets like that are justmeat sheildsunless you findthem in the wild and train them up from a baby.

I would also say that it may not be the wisest thing to post such things where related parties can see, lol. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I saw Willow's post, lol. I bet that helped you make up your mind.

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.
