Thread: How does a Non-CH get a mountable creature?
On a related note, Ijust got a CL4 Lesser Dewback trained as a mount, but it's the same size as my CL10 BE Dewback that I once had...he's tiny! LOL
Here are the stats on my Dewback:
Level : 4
Trainable abilities: 4
Training Points: 98
Training XP: 393/4300
First off, will he get any bigger if his XP reached the full 4300? I know I can't get pet XP as I'm not a CH, but I'm wondering if I give him to a CH to finish training will he grow more? I'm assuming that Lesser Dewbies are the only Dewbacks a non-CH can use as a mount...is this correct?

since CH patch the growth of a pet is related to its maturity level, which each level it gains it will grow , but the CL affects the maximum size.... this results in high level BE durnis growing to 3m tall monster bunnies, while a CL 70 BE Kimogila will remain ever a lot smaller then its wild relatives of 78+ levels.
I know pre patch BE CL10 banthas reached the size to get mounted, im not sure if they do still in the new system, but im quiet sure they do. Otherwise u would need to choose for example wild pets with maximum CL 10... as levels were adjusted new I cant say for sure which pets there are for u... guess its lesser dewbacks, lesser bols and Carrion Spats.
Or u get urself a Kashyyyk mount, the Kashyyyk bantha is a reward from a quest in the Etyyy hunting grounds, speak to Mada Johnson in the tree in kacchiro and then with brody johnson in the arcona compound in Etyyy

Pet xp isn't really something that can be "full". At 4300 xp, the dewback gains a "maturity level", which grants training points, possibly a trainable ability slot (this gain is random, up to the max slots for the creature's CL), and then rolls over back to 0 xp. A CL 4 creature gets 7 training points per maturity level, so this dewback has been leveled 14 times.
Given that, I'm thinking that unless it can currently be trained as a mount, it never will. I thought adult size was supposed to be reached at around 6-8 maturity levels. How does his size compare to wild lesser dewbacks?

There is also the Kashyyyk bantha pet reward that I believe is part of the quest for unlocking your entrance into Etyyy or is a reward for an Etyyy quest.
The Kashyyyk Bantha is a quest reward for the Find Brody Johnson quest given by Mada Johnson at the Great Tree in Kachiro. You do have to have access to Etyyy to complete this quest.
Because of the issue of pet size = CL a lot of BE made pets do not grow large enough to be mount trainable for a non-CH now.
There a re only 2 CL10 BE made pets that are mount trainable. Dewbacks and Falumpasets.
So if you buy a CL10 Dewback deed off the bazaar you can take that to a CH and have him:
1) Tame it (i.e. create the actual pet from the deed. You can also do this step yourself)
2) The CH can train the pet any commands you want it to have and also name it if you desire.
3) The CH then uses the pet in combat until it has gained enough training xp to rollover several experince levels so the pet is fully mature.
4) The CH can then train it as a mount.
5) The CH can also train any Special abilities that he knows and you want your mount to have (i.e. Knockdown etc)
Please do NOT expect to only pay 5,000 credits or so for this service. It takes a bit of time for the CH to level up a pet like this. You can expect to probably pay no less than 100,000 credits for a mount and even more if you have any Special abilities added to the mount.

Great responses from the CH community on this question, all the bases have been covered.
Ko, I think this should be made sticky, or included in the FAQ, or something. Good work here!
