I am a 1/1/1/1 CH atm and I really enjoy the profession dispute the slow rate of xp. I got a MCH to train a Spat for me this weekend and now I have my very first mount. To set this story up let me add that I have CH commandmacro's set up on my toolbar. I was riding around with some of my friends and I wanted to dismount to try and tame a baby. Instead of hitting my dismount macro I hit my Trick One macro. Needless to say my screen was instantly filled with Coke blowingout ofmy nose (OH THE BURN). For those experienced players you may know what happens when you are mounted on a Spat and yell Trick 1. For those who don't I suggest you try it. You will be amused!

P.S. Make sure you are not drinking anything when you attempt this.

I concur, was the funniest thing to see the first time it happened to me! And I believe that Giant Carrion Spats do the same thing.

OOOH I just got a giant carrion spat, can they be mounted when they grow up? I'm getting spats for my non-CH friends and will love towering over them on my giant one if you can

As for Giant Carrion Spats as mounts: If memory serves, at around CL7-9 when you call your GC Spat you'll get a message asking if you want to 'stunt' its' growth, choose to stunt it. Store the pet then call it out again. It should be ready to train as a mount after that.

Giant spats, can be mount trained from the moment you tame them, but will need to have their growth stunted in a few days.

No, no, you can train it as a mount the moment ou tame it, and it keeps growing with a saddle on it. At CL 7-9 you'll get the "stunt growth" message, and just select yes. You'll be slightly shorter than a savage humbaba at that point.

You are talking about Non-Ch's right? Can a CH ride a full grown one?

Non CH cannot ride the Giant Carrion Spat as it is an Agro creature.

At the moment of tame you can mount a Giant Spat baby, (made a good buck off this when mounts came out, took may a CH out to catch their own mounts that they could use right away).

A Giant Spat will continue to grow until CL 7 and then you will get a notice to stunt its growth. It only stunts him HAM and Damage and CL. He is still at a full grown Giant Spat height, or just under it. So you will still be able to tower over your friends.

Yeah, you end up being just a hair under full-grown height. Unless you're standing right next to a wild one, you'll never even know the difference.

Just so you know, if you do not get the stunt growth message because it is buggy, or you do not stunt the growth you will not be able to ride him when he is grown. The saddle stays but you can not get on it.

The other problem is you HAVE to catch it on that one day the message pops; it won't wait for you. If you happen to not play the night it reaches that point, you lost out and have to start fresh.
