Made master CH a couple of days ago, still can't tame anything - not even a lil huurton, what's up?

Any ideas?

I have a 1.8 Ghz intel, 1 gb ofRAM and a pair of +25 to taming pants.

Should be enough for a huurton baby, I think.

Is this a joke ?

If so I dont get it if not I think you mean you made novice & no a Hurtoons beyond you if your a novice. Try nunas & paralopes.

i bet you tried to tame a huurton pup...just because it has a green circle, doesn't mean it's tameable..do /exam to check..in fact huurton pups don't tame for anyone...

just out of curiosity, how did you master without taming anythng?

actually it was huurton stalkers (babies)

going back and fourth looking for em everywhere for two days. I fail constantly. I tried to tame a piket once also.

CH is not for me, I suppose. I just wanted to try some of my experiments, from when I used to be a BE.

Anyone ever tried to tame a huurton stalker (baby of course) without failing (more than) five times in row?

- - -

I don't see a master doctor failing five times in a row when crafting a medpack;a master ranger failing five times to build his camp; a pikeman that has less than 20% chance to stun his opponent etc.

I killed about a thousand jantas, mokks and kungas. That's around 800 -1200xp per kill with my pet (lvl 16 BE:d huurton), which is a hell of a lot faster than failing 5 out of (at least) five.

How much xp do you get when taming, anyway?

Right OK

a) Master Scout or there abouts allows you to see creature levels as does swgcreatures.

b) You can only tame creatures BELOW your level. Like a wrix as its level 12.

c) You can still fail a tame at Master Creature Handler, it all depends on the vagaries of chance & he level of the 'Max creature level' skill.

maybe your just really unlucky or scaring the babie in anyway

just strikes me as odd you would grind to master , without knowing even the most basic aspects of the profession..oh and your right, 6 tries would just be waaay tomany triesto waste precious time on (sarcasm on)...you being a mch, is as embarrassing as a mdr. who doesn't know how to heal

I remember in my first stint as CH...I hadn't made master, but had just gotten
to the point where I could tame Graul's. This was before the Great CH Nerf.
I'm crusing around on Dant, west of Imp Outpost and "Oh yeah!". Lair with 2 babies.
Ka-ching!! There were 3 adults around, so I was nervous as hell, being a Wook with
just a little Pistoleer. So, I put the gun away, /maskscent and walk on in to the lair.
I try the first baby I came to. Nope.
Second try, third try, fourth try, fifth try.
I'm sweating bullets by now because I just know it's gonna aggro me.

So, I go to the other baby. One's better than none.
Took me two tries. One successful tame in seven attempts.
Feeling luck(and a little stupid), I went back to the first baby. Took two more attempts,
but I got both of 'em
Took the Clone Express back to Imp(cloning/insurance/corpse was totally broken then)
and logged out as it was about 10 minutes before the server was going down.

2 tames in 9 tries. It happens. I failed collecting lvl 10-15 pets as an MCH. It happens.

If I remember correctly, in one of the last few Publishes, I think it is now required to have Mask Scent on in order to successfully tame a baby of any kind. In the past it helped but wasn't necessary. As a MCH and a MR, I don't leave any city on any planet without Mask Scent or Camo on.

Have a URL to the patch notes for this? I tamed some rancors as late as yesterday w/o /maskscent.....
