Thread: L2 version of hamstring only really doing L1 effect ???

I have a Reptilian Flyer which I tamed and had the HAMSTRING (L2) ability.

During use last night I was able to get the hamstring attack to work on thetarget quite nicely, However, the icon which came up under the targets Health bar said it had HAMSTRING (L1) applied to it and it lasted 20 seconds counting down.

So does this mean that even if it says you have a L2 or L3 triggered special on your pet it is really only doing the L1 version of that attack ?

To help work out what is going on here does anyone use the HAMSRRING (L1) version ? does it last for 20 seconds ?

I have bugged it anyway because at it's best it is a display error and at it's worst a major bug in the new specials system.

I noticed this as well. This needs to be adressed.

Have you tested the speed at which the mob moves towards you? Hamstring doesn't really interest me since I'm a smuggler. but this is an issue I'd like to see resolved

Is it simply that L2 = L1 and L1 + L2 > L2?

I would think that L2 and L3 would have the same effect but would just land more often, similar to howa lotof the playerspecials work.

Seeing the difference in Damage a pet does, or it having higher HAM that its wild brothers is a pretty obvious "advantage" to the specials.. Whether there is a huge difference from Lv1 to Lv3 is another story. There IS a fairly large difference in most cass from NO special to LV3 special..

I don't think there's really a need for detailed mathematical analysis in the case of snare effects.

The goal of the ability is to reduce enemy movement rate. This could be for one of several purposes that come to my mind:

  1. To kite an enemy.

  2. To escape from a dangerous situation.

  3. To separate specific enemies from melee combat while you work on defeating their carefully singled out allies first (i.e. crowd control).

All three of these rely ona singleunified principle. For about 20 seconds, the affected enemy shouldn't be able to attack you with melee attacks. This is a pretty boolean criteria for judging success. Either the enemy can attack you during that period or it can't. In my experience, it can.

i have use hamstring 1 anrecieved noticeable diff in speed in mob lv1 1-30 anything anbove 30 it doesn't sem to affect and no diff between the hamdtring lvls either altho it it seems to stack with carbine criple shot and critter lvl 30 and below barely at all move.

just forget about the time line it nolonger exits her hasn't for some time. we're in a virtual star wars universe and it our time line not the movies. so its what we make of this universe ourselves. once this is realized then you'll start having fun

Why shouldn't hamstring attack deliver a snare exactly to the degree of all the other snares? :/

Maybe the levels of the ability doesn't mean that it is longer or stronger. Maybe level 1 will only work on CL 1-30, level 2 31-70 and level 3 70 and up. Just an idea as to why it doesn't seem to slow higher level mobs down, I have no evidence to back it up.

What concerns me is that the state icon under the targets name is showing a little picture of a bent leg and when you move your mouse over it it describes it as 'Hamstring (L1)' and is counting down from 20 seconds. Why would it not say 'Hamstring (L2)' ???

So there are two options:

1) It is doing L2 type hamstring damage but just shows L1 on the little state icon.

or

2) It is really only doing the L1 effect and there is no point in getting any higher than L1 hamstring.

To find out I really need someone who has used Hamstring L1 to tell me how long the effect lasts for. To test it move you mouse under the targets name onto the state icon that will appear just after you have triggered the hamstring attack on your target.

Maybe this is also true of other L2 and L3 abilities ?? We need to test.

This was one of the very early abilities that Drashk tested when the publish was still on TC. He indicated at that time that Hamstring Attack L1 lasted for 20 seconds.

The big question in my mind is whether either of them are actually doing anything tangible. I use Hamstring Attack L1 or L2 on an enemy and notice virtually no reduction in movement rate. Certainly not enough to confer even a slight degree of combat advantage. Has anyone used a Hamstring ability and gotten what they considered useful results at this point?

I have learned both L1, and L2, but have only used the L1 ability. I didn't see any usefull slow down of the MOB.
