Thread: A Theory as to why CH can not be balanced in the NGE
The combat system is EXACTLY THE SAME AS LIVE. Only the method of aquiring and holding a target has changed. They upped the hit rate of our pistols and kept the hit rate of the MOBs about the same. THey gave the MOBS more hitpoints and that is all.
The new target thing results in some intreesting side effects. I am shooting a rill the rill runs at me and drops into a ditch. I have already fired another burst. That burst goes over the rills head and hits the rill that was next to it. Great. Now they are both after me. Well it is more FPS that way
now lets look at a hunt
SWG Classic - Tank attacks and establishes aggro. Happens to be a social set so they all jump the tank. No bigie He/she is the tank and that is their job. Now the range people attack. They select the target the tank is damaging and they all finish it off. On to the next.
SWGNGE - Tank attacks and establishes aggro. Happens to be a social set so they all jump the tank. No bigie He/she is the tank and that is their job. Now the range people attack. BUT WAIT. The tank has aggro of ONE mob. the range people will fire and many will hit the other MOBS and get some personal love. Poor Tanks. Well less MOBs beating on them anyway.
Interesting theory, sounds plausible too

hehe, so it's a jealousy thing, cos we're tougher than jedi.
LMAO
Hey Idene, doesnt your analysis also mean that faction pets and combat droids would 'STAY ON TARGET also and lump them in with CH pets under the new system ? Thus they cant possibly be allowed right ? I am not arguing that they not be but if thats why CH is gone then something is not right then.
I can boil it down even farther.
My theory?
The devs are 1) sloppy, 2) lazy, 3) incompetent, 4)not Star Wars fans, and are aping the SW "style" based on whatever LucasArts tells them Star Wars "is". (lol. I almost wrote "based on whatever the players tell them is 'Star Warsy'", but then I came to my senses- we already know SOE doesn't listen to anything we say)
LucasArts doesn't have "Creature Handlers" in any other SW game, so.... "Bye Bye"

Yes it does and that is the Hypocracy I am looking for should the faction pets remain in the game. It will disprove my theory and show even more blatent malice against the CH community. This is one of those conundrums where we can see that SOE will hang itselfon its own pertard(sp).

With DE still being in the game I wonder how they will implement combat droids. If they can make the droids attack the target then they can make pets attack the target.
You presume there will still be combat droids.
As for the OP's point, it makes sense after playing the NGE on test. Pets would essentially be aimbots. Since the non-CH pets, droids and faction pets are pretty well useless now, the only 'unbalanced' pets are the CH pets.
I am going to add something here, maybe it hasnt occured to anyone, here it goes. By the coding of the new system, we pursue each attack by clicking the target(pain in the balls) or holding down the click on them. Each shot we fire is manual, so that eliminates auto attack. Did we EVER tell our pets to attack for every hit? /yell a /yell a /yell a /yell a /yell a..... I never did, exactly cause pets go on auto attack. Pets are different then NPCs and AI beccause they are coded to be player controlled. Also adding pets, not all, didn't really have ranged attacks like we do, unlike most droids. Droids fight different then pets. By whiping out the old system CH doesnt fit into the game and to control pets would screw up the new coding for the combat action targeting and cycling. So we have been rolled up, crumpled, and going back for the 3 pointer. Why they are keeping droids gets me? I need to know if they are still combat equiped and still have melee atttacks (like the r2 units). If they still have melee, that gets me... but if droids are redused to ranged, they should attack slowly and stay on one target with ignoring other things hitting it cause the action will cycle over and over like a macro on the cretaure it has been told to attack. I hope everyone understand me, I am a bit confused myself... You know whar I mean? right?

Pets in NGE - We would be hoplessly overpowered because our pets would STAY ON TARGET. That is why we are being eliminated.

After looking at everything that has gone on in the last year I would have to say ch was originally intended to be included. The goals of this company is now very clear. They believe the future is in console support.
The pet training window may be evidence enough to support the original intentions. It is a simple window and click operation that can easily be supported by a controller. I am startng to think they didn'thave the time to finish it "CH" for the marketing decisions to push this live just after the expansion and during the dvd launch of the latest movie.
