Thread: Why not do what's best for the game?

Eh? Im sure this will get deleted or something but seriously I think if we can have a rational discussion here on the FUTURE of the game without resorting to flames there should be no reason for deletion.

First the issue at hand

the experience changes. With the implimentation of the CU SOE did a very subtle yet very important thing for this game. They brought back the need and desire for group hunting. A change this game really needed. yet in the last publish that whole step forward was just squashed. And why? because its too easy to get jedi...well it's too late for that really, and why should the rest of the population get penalized for this mistake? We'll address the jedi issue in a moment but for now lets stick to the group xps. Not only will more people be forced to solo but this also incredably discourages the invitations of newbies into groups. Where is the incentive to take tag along low level players if they cannot assist really in the destruction of the mob and inturn will siphon away needed xps from higher level players?

This shows an incredable lack of forward thinking. A reaction to an issue that, granted was getting out of hand, but punishes the entire population. And I'm sure there will be ways around this as well. I am willing to bet that the return of the solo group will prove that if a person is out of range for payment then they will not get their share of the xps either, and thus the solo group member will get the group bonus and full xps. It's just a guess but I have little doubt this issues wasn't considared.

This is just the latest in a long line of issues that the community is concerned about yet we get publishes that have little or nothing to do with our concerns.

The condemned structure issue- I fully understand why SOE wanted to remove the destruction of player structures from the game but it seems they did not consider their current paying players issues that would arise out of their attempts to solve that issue. Now our cities and landscapes are littered with buildings that we can do nothing about.

The gcw issue- Same goes for the rediculous amounts of bases everywhere. Yet there is still resistance to a planitary base cap? Wouldnt the gcw heat up if there could only be a limited number of bases on each planet and you had to remove them to place those of your own faction? Wouldn't the servers function better if there wasnt say 400 bases on tatooine? you know even in monopoly there is a limit to houses and hotels

And what about jedi- we all know they dont belong here in this era and yet we all strive for one...well almost all. We also all know that none of them should be fighting in the gcw at this time. Wouldnt it be great if they had something else to do? and that like the village their progress in the force was not soley based on experiance but based on tasks and the decisions they make. Wouldnt it be better if when they made a bad decision like kill indescriminantly they were penalized rather than rewarded. If jedi are popping up to fast then why not gate their progress rather than destroying the xps for all those that did not take advantage of the weaknesses in the system.

By changing the rules now all you have done is widened the gap between those that are done and those that have just started. You have put new players...new customers at an incredable disadvantage to those that were able to take the easy way.

so many have made such amazing suggestions toward the future of the game and yet each time there is a step forward we flounder so far backward.

Like I said take this with a grain of salt, delete it or do what ever but know this I am not flaming here, I dont pretend to speak for the community but I'm sure I am not the only one.

The worst thing about this DRASTIC change is that the game has just been made completely inaccesable to anyone not willing to play 6 hours a day.

One of the Devs said that they wanted to increase the accesability of this game to a wider audience. Publish 22 is completely contradictory to that goal. New players don't stand a chance.

The most constructive thing that the Devs could do is remove this change from the game. And please rethink making such radical sudden changes to the game. This sort of thing destroys consistency, and consistency is how you will widen the accesability to this game.

The games biggest problem is that its lost its roots to Star Wars. Some parts of the game just dont feel like star wars. If this game wasnt based off of star wars and had the fan base there it would be totally dead.

Even with the fan base this game is almost totally dead. Has anyone even stopped and considered the last time we ever really seen Coronet packed with a large crowd was during the protests against the CU? Ya we have gotten some new players to the game since the CU, but it has by far yet to make up the amount we have lost. To be honest if it wasn't for my guild I'd have cancled my account too already, but I am one those few who stayed and helped do damage control and atleast try to make what was left over as enjoyable for the players that chose to stay behind, but each stupid patch they keep putting out get's worse not better and it makes doing my job at keeping the moral up that much more harder. Personally I am getting tired of them using no common sense with some of these releases.

We all have our own views on what makes this game great and even some of my own personal views may differ from some, but the one consistant thing that most people on Kauri agree on is that this game was better Pre-CU then it was after the CU went live. Now the CU is here regardless the fact that most the player base was against it and still each patch is worse then the next. For me it's the CH patch personally. Grinding a pet to growth? I'd love nothing more then to personally smack the person who came up with that idea right upside the noggin and tell them, "Think McFly!! Think!!", but that just my own personal impulse on the situation. lol
