Thread: SWG sending 1 1/2mbs to client may be reason for lag on dial-up connections

(I posted this in the tech support forums to hopefully get the help from a TSR and now posting it here to hopefully get the attention of a Dev so that this can be fixed)

I posted a couple weeks ago about horrible lag on Dant and certain cities. I'm not sure if Tat would have been included in that or not because I haven't been to Tat at that time. Last night I tried to group up with my guild on Tat and had lag all through the planet and in the middle of no where. When I posted last I mentioned my Bandwidth in was over 2.0 and that's when I would have lag and packet loss. Same held true last night as well. I also noticed last night then in a 5 minute period the game tried to push over 1 1/2 mbs of information to me. Well it was able to, but not with out it's problems. I believe this is why I am getting the lag. Seeing as that I am on dial-up, there is no way that my connection can take in that much in such a time period. Usually when downloading something, my limit is about 1 mb in 10 minutes. I believe that to be true for all dial-up connections. I also believe this is what may be plagueing dial-up customers playing this game suffering lag. I think SWG is trying to push to much on us in a short amount of time in certain areas.

I'm not sure why this is happening all of a sudden, but it seems as though they have upped the bandwidth limit that they are pushing to the client not taking into consideration dial-up customers that can not physically pull in that much in that time period. I think that someone, as in SWG staff should investigate this as it may very well be the problem with lag and dial-up customers.
