Thread: Question regarding new message on the galaxy trade boards

Ok, so I noticed the spiffy new red letters at the top of the trade forums:

IF you are not bidding or asking a question of the buyer directly related to the status of an auction DO NOT post/troll in auction threads. IF you do not like someones price or item you are not allowed to disrupt their sale. People can make their own decisions on purchases.

I, as someone who does NOT ridiculously overcharge for items, do NOT agree with this message. But, as we all know, SOE makes the rules however they see fit. My question now is this: how does this apply to other postings that are NOT auctions on the trade boards? Very often, I see a post from someone asking how much something is selling for, something they are looking to purchase. Not long after, some greedy person comes along and posts a suggestion that is usually 6-10 times the normal selling price. As a poster responding to the ORIGINAL post, asking what is the normal price of an item, am I allowed to point out that items sell for as much as 1/10th of what a previous poster offered to sell their item for, or must I resort to sending PMs?

Fortunately, when someone overprices something on an auction, they usually receive no bids on it anyway whether someone points out that it's overpriced or not, so in retrospect, your new message is redundant; all this achieves is that if the seller does not KNOW it's overpriced, they won't know until the entire auction has passed and they receive no bids. Way to allow the community to help each other, Sony.

Since I likely won't receive a response to this, I'll just assume that since the scenario listed above is not actually an auction, I'm free to post truthful information regarding pricing in such posts until informed otherwise.

Actually if its not an auction and
its a price check it does not fall under that warning specifically,
however you still need to follow the forum community guidelines in your reply
and you will be fine. (IE you can state your disagreement with
someones price estimate without causing an arguement )

What Garva's saying is be helpful and polite and stay on topic in the Trade Forums, don't flame or be an idiot.

I always do, I just hate seeing someone try to take advantage of someone else (fortunately, that linked instance involved one of our correspondents, who admittedly did not just fall off the turnip truck), especially in this ridiculously over-inflated economy.

And thanks for the response, GarVa. I'll be sure to keep my thoughts in pm's to individuals if some light needs to be shed on accurate pricing.

P.S. I'm from Gorath, where one can state the color of the sky is blue and it will cause an argument. But I'll do my best.
