Thread: Fan Club Membership for the launch pad chat?!

Heya all
When I tried to login into SWG, my server was down for maintenance. Ok, I thought. Go to the chat in the meantime, to listen and look around.
When I restarted the launch pad and clicked on the chat button, I got the following message:'Alert. This chat room requires a Fan Club Membeship which you do not have. To participate in Chat, join the Fan Club, then re-login in to the launchpad to access your membership.
I'm playing this game now since the very first week it came online. I never was aware that I need any additionla memberships to access this chat.
Why the hell do I need an additional Membership, when I already pay enough for going online?
When was this change made?
Who is responsible for this decision?
Why does the URL which is hidden behind the Button 'Join Fan Club' lead to a dead end?
Why do the most registration links on the SWG-Website require IE (Some people are using real browser and don't like to start IE just for a registration!)?
I really would like to have some answers from a responsible person.

I'm having the same problem signing up for the Fan Club. The link is a dead end and I can't find any way around it to post on the forums with my other account.

why bump a thread that is 5 months old when your question has been answered in other threads several times in the past days?
anyways, you can sign up for the fan club using this link, and yes it´s actually to sign up for the beta but since you need a fan club membership for it it will direct you to the signup page.
