SOE,
I wanted to make sure that SOE was aware of some things happening in the game.
I am not some little kid ranting about the difficulty of the game. I am 46 years old and have been playing games since D & D and video games since pong and pretty much everything after those, however I am very upset with the way the game is progressing. You may not be aware of this but you are creating a very vulgar and unfriendly playing environment. Let me provide you with some examples to illustrate my point.
I believe the whole forced PvP of Jedi vs. BH has not added anything to make game play more fun or enjoyable. To the contrary, it has caused people to become excessively mean, increased the vulgarity, and greatly reduced the fun of the game because of the overall lack of basic common courtesy. I would hate to think that my 9 year old son who plays the game would be exposed to some of the things that have spewed from a BH’s mouth in the game at me.
I believe that you should be able to “turn off” the Jedi vs. BH PvP or at least bring some balance as I will describe below.
I would suggest a simple approach based upon the environment you have created in the game. What I mean by this is why not give the leading combat professions something to do beyond go kill 100 more creatures? The bounty hunters come after jedi but why not expand on that concept?
Let the smugglers get missions that give them money and loot to actually smuggle things for different factions. The more they do work for a particular faction the higher they progress in “ranks” in that faction. The higher up they go in the faction the better and higher the smuggling missions. The better they are the more notoriety they receive. This causes them to be hunted by bounty hunters. If the smuggler wins vs the BH he would get the money the BH would have received. The BH looses rank appropriate to the level of the mark and has to reclimb the rank ladder to get a mark of that level again. The higher the mark the higher the risk. I mean remember Han Solo in the cantina?
Bounty Hunters would also get notoriety by successfully completing missions for factions. The more they do work for a particular faction the higher they progress in “ranks” in that faction. The higher up they go in the faction the better and higher the marks. This would then cause them to be hunted by other bounty hunters from a different faction. If the mark BH wins vs the BH he would get the money the BH would have received. The BH looses rank appropriate to the level of the mark and has to reclimb the rank ladder to get a mark of that level again.
Obviously you could add more to this model but I believe it gives a more realistic environment.
I hate people who just complain so I wanted to provide what I consider is a possible solution.
Please feel free to contact me with questions.
