Thread: When is it all coming? A summary

The main page of www.starwarsgalaxies.com lists the new changes that are coming to the game. The GCW tweaks, the player events perks, the galaxy-wide searching, just to name a few.

One thing I would like to see is some kind of a loose timetable showing when these changes will hit the test center.

Or, at least, someone posting in this thread with the answer to that.

I'm not complaining, of course! I've been here a long, long time. I'm patient. It's just one of those things that "would be nice".

"So what you’re asking is “can a lightsaber block a magic missile?” The answer is no. A magic missile always hits its target. Period. The Jedi would move to block the missile, the missile would move, the Jedi would move to intercept again, the missile would move again, etc. Eventually the Jedi would tire or make a mistake and that’s when the Magic Missile would hit." -- Red Mage

We don't give timeframes or ETAs. You can assume that most designs will appear in the next publish once they are on Test Center. If something gets pulled from TC we announce it.Since we are currently publishing once every two weeks you can get a general idea of when the stuff will be in the game once it hits TC.

When will new updates be on TC today?

-I support a Galactic Civil War fought between regular, average players... Simply strict, hardlined Imperials & freedom lovin' Rebels fighting for control of the galaxy. A Galactic Civil War fought not with glowsticks or lightsabers, but with blasters, lances, and how much guts you have. A Galactic Civil War which reflects the timeline, the destruction of the Death Star, the absolute control which the Empire has and the brave Rebels trying to break up that reign... The extinction of all but a few rare and special Jedi. That my friends, is the Galactic Civil War and that is what we have to aim for.

Things have been much better since the old system of announcing intentions and then changing delivery plans.
Unfortunately, due to the complexity of the system, it was not realistic to post a timeline and then statistically not meet a minority of the plans.

Smugglers for example have been somewhat abused by this, as the intentions were good, but other items seemed to take priority and make a bigger difference than changing one profession.
Yes, Jedi were one profession, but they didnt have ANY proper implementation initially
And they still aren't finished due to an FRS system that doesnt create wanted behavior, hence it was permagimped, and is not going to be fixed anytime soon. Wonder why they tolerate fight clubs?
Its private. Less Jedi seen and ranked Jedi wont come out often.
Why fix this problem, when wanted behavior is good... but it IS still a problem.

Although we may know less about what is on the horizon, I think expectations are at least being met, and this has been a sore point for a long time.

I'm more than happy about the recent changes and I have a renewed faith in what the devs can do.

With all the good stuff that's been published lately, and the announcements of what's coming...

You have the general populace in a feeding frenzy.

I love it.

I promise to never, ever bug anyone wanting to know when we will see things... I have infinate patience. I'm a smuggler after all

You guys have done some amazing things here as of late, I'm really happy you guys have been able to speed up your publishes with the new people you've added, glad they didn't bog you down too badly getting them up and running.

I would have stayed anyway, you had me at "hello" (June 26th 2003)

You mean "We don't give timeframes or ETAs ANYMORE....."

There was a habbit of doing this back early when the game came out. I assume (yea I know what that makes me) that it is no longer happening because you can only take it so often hearing players call you liars and what not. Thunderheart used to do that fairly often until he got burned so much by it.

It is important to have a time table, but in saying that it is equally important to cut the devs some slack when they fall behind it. IMHO the devs need to take up the idea that Scotty from Star Trek did. A good example would have been "Captian (or players what ever) we cannot possibly have the combat upgrade for another 3 years..." Yea it will be completed in 3 months and when it is you all will look like gods.

If you guys play your cards right, you still have a chance to pull back in old subscribers.

I personally have started to hear rumors that some of my old guild might be thinking about givibg SWG another try.

I'm sure this holds true for a lot of folks. Sadly, it won't hold true for all the people who have left.

Chilastra is a varitable ghost town as compared to a year ago, maybe time for consolidation?

Holy mother of...

Wow! I've never actually had a Dev respond to one of my comments before! I feel... elated!

Now if I can just get them to look at some of my other ideas, like my proposal for expansion of the existing content or the delivery missions for JTL people... =)

ETA's have been the bane of TH's and Q's existances since day -365... because we should have known that delays were eminate due to inital release being pushed back twice.

Calandryll_SOE or Tiggs,

1) I think he meant something like we got last year (a list showing the next 5 publishes or so). Of course, that list wasn't really accurate (some of the announced dungeons never made it into the game until now) but that wouldn't be so important. We are just hungry for every bits of information even if it turns out in the end that the one or other announced feature will be delayed or wiped.
Can't we get something like that (without ETAs and timeframes)? You could mark it with a sentence like "reminder: this is just a pure concept we have right now and it is subject to change anytime" so people won't complain too much later on if some feature didn't make it. Ok, to be most honest, I'm already happy with the latest publishes and the upcoming things (CU, gcw changes etc) but I'm hungry for information anytime, too.

2) Will the existing NPC bases be implemented into the new gcw base system? Their design is so cool, I'd hate to see them even more abandoned than they already are (I mean the bases that were planned to be conquerable to affect the /gcw command but the terminals are bugged).

3) Oh, and you guys asked us a bit ago what we would like to see being changed in game to enhance the gaming experience.

I would have to add something to that: revamp the mission system in a small way meaning: could you guys mabe just add code that allows us to choose the type of mob we prefer? It's such a big pain searching for X minutes just to get the mob lair you wanted.
What are the chances to get a quick change in one of the publishes (not asking for an entire revamp, at least not before the CU).

how bout whats got PRIORITY then. Last i recall Tyrant said plans were get the CU done, then the GCW, then start revamping professions on an as needed basis. Personally i think most of us would like a general idea of what direction this game is going in. I dont need a bullet list of whats gonna get fixed in the next 5 days, it WOULD be nice to have some idea tho how far down the line a professions revamp might be considered or if we should expect change A to occur before change B or if change C has to become a priority over A and B. Something akin to all our professions top 5 issues, a Devs top 5 priorities perhaps.
