Let us go over a few offical statements on the CU....

Dallas Dickinson's qoute from MMORPG.com interview:

Once the combat upgrade is live, all players will have the opportunity to reallocate all their character's skills...

Blair's qoute from his CU Update post (only key points qouted):

Special Actions

The following profession trees will be modified by adding and removing new special abilities to bring them in line with the new system: Marksmen, Medic, Brawler, Scout, Riflemen, Pistoleer, Carbineer, Bounty Hunter, Smuggler, Commando, Pikeman, Swordsman, Fencer, Jedi, TKA, Doctor, Combat Medic

The profession trees for Entertainers, Musicians, Dancers and Image Designers will be affected by the Combat Upgrade...

Special Actions (continued)

Players that have skill boxes in one of these affected professions will be allowed a skill re-spec for their character. This does not include the sensitiveskills. (A re-spec is short for "respecify". It is the chance to choose new skills for your character).

Now we go to the HoC interview from SWG stratics:

Brannoc - *|DKP|RoughRyder* How is the skill point respec going to work when the curb goes live?

Keldarin - We are trying to make the skill respec as fair and balanced as possible. You will be able to switch around any of your combat related skills, though we are trying to keep Novice skill points only tradeable for Novice skill, Elite skills for Elite skills, etc.

From looking at those offical qoutes it is easy to see there is a problem is picking who has the "offical" word. We have one saying all skills can be respec'ed, another saying certain classes, whileanother saying only respecing certaint levels can be redone. So the questionis,WHO isgiving the right information out?

I can see them not wanting to allow all skills to be redone since this is supposed to be a "combat upgrade" but almost everyprofession is being effected by this, including several crafting classes. The the last qoute is pure crud. Saying only novice can respec to novice, or at least they are said to be attempting that in the qoute. Take BH as an example (since I am Carbineer and BH myself), master marksman and scout's exploration are needed atm. With the redoing of the classes there will be the possiblity of 3 marksmans lines open to respec. But accepting that last qoute as fact would mean if I wanted to respec them I would be forced byyou to only acceptothernovice lines rather then using them to work my way up another profession that "I" want and have "earned" by using those points in the past.

Since the announcement of the CU Respec the way this has been handled has become another Holocron farse. Back then they accounced a free gift of a holocron then tryied to avoid all the new characters that were made to make it by a created date. The final and correct response was to simply to allow all to get them in good faith. The CU has fallen into the problem of the Holocron issue. This was accounced early and with offical qoutes stating how it would be done. Now they are trying to change their own words and this just adds more problems and flames for them to deal with. In the end the respec must be as has been stated orginally in good faith. Allow a full respec for those who are in classes that are being affected. Yes there will be people out there taking this respec as a big gain for themselves, but is that not what a free respec is? There will always be those who use any and all parts of a game to thir advantage, therespecis no different. The game is being changed dramatically and as such the players need and more so deserve the respec that without strings attached.Make a "final" annoucement on the respec for the CU that is fair and in good faith to all the players out there so that we can get this done and over with and move on to bigger and better topics.

Gosh, but I sure wish peeps would stop pandering to SOE's whitewashing by continuing to use the accronym "CU." It is nothing short of a New SWG, or game revamp. Can we call it what it is?

In any event, I did notice the same thing. I've cancelled a few accounts already, and kept two, one of which was a crafter that I planned to respect to combat, cause after SOE can arbitrarily pull the plug on crafting after two years of building resources, a business, and a reputation, I sure am not going to trust them to not waste my hard efforts again in the future, so I will never craft in SWG again. All that stuff is gone and done, and if I can't respec my crafter in the transition to New SWG, then that account will be cancelled too.

------------------------
After taking a new toon thru Legacy to level 64, and another CL80 to CL90, I've concluded that this game is bereft of value, and no MMORPG can survive so many role and economic devestations.
