Are player characters able to be punished If someone gets into a verbal contract with you about upgrading a piece of property and then steals that piece ofproperty.

I had a barc speeder stolen from me when someone offered to upgrade it for some credits. He said that the deal had to be done by trading him the bike and he would upgrade it and then give it back for the credits. when i traded him he rode off.

I know it was dumb to do, but I guess im a trusting person just trying to have fun in an a imaginary world. I guess theres creeps everywhere you go.

I should hope that this could be tracked and that Devs would think highly enough of it to help out... no new player should be able to be played like this by an obvious older or more skilled player... its not like the game comes with a detailed manual at best you have to learn things over a time period in the game. For someone to claim that they can upgrade something that all of Vet players know is non existent is falsifying something in the game and I hope that CSR/developers will not allow such behavior to go unpunished if it can be tracked. Shame upon the person that took advantage of someone trying to learn a new game, it disgusts me the things that are allowed in the game in all honesty this wouldnt happen if we never had a reason to trust others with our items.. if smuggler slicing could be done in the trade window etc. That is the culprit making anything in the game based upon player trust is never good

You really should open a ticket in the game to a CSR.. report the name of the individual, the server, the day and time it happened and if anything you have email or screenshot maybe of the conversation or if the conversation is still in your window perhaps a CSR/developer could log in your character and see for themself what happened.. but there has to be something that can be done to prevent scoundrels from doing this stuff. If no one will help you in the end, go to your server forums and make a post telling everyone who the person was and what they did and especially if they have a guild/PA they are in report them to their guild leader if possible. You may not get far but that person will not be forgotten in the eyes of many for their dirty deeds

Thanks for the support.

Yeah I sent in a harassment report, but I dont know if anything will be done about the situation. I sent one right after the incident and then again the next day with better details when i noticed the guy I traded with was online again. They might not be able to prove the event happened without a trade agreement though. I really dont know all the rules regarding the agreements though.

So really what has happened is that ive recieved a good swift kick to my pride, and a strong sense of distrust for other players. I think I would'ntbe so PO'ed if the speeder wasn't a barc and that i didnt have to buy the game to acquire one without paying a couple mil in credits.

I do believe that this type of action is against SOE's rules and regulations of play. If it can be proven that this jerk ripped you off(ie screen shots of conversations etc.) than this induvidual will more than likely be punished, possibly banned.

Now this is how I heard it works, not 100% sure, but if you have reported this person, SOE will(might?) do something about it. especially considering they lied about being able to upgrade the barc which cannot be done.

from a legal point of view, property which was bought by you was fraudulently stolen by another.
if you can prove it with screenies, that is sufficient evidence. Alternivitly. Set up a sting.

what was his name btw.

Idiots like this ruin an otherwise friendly game.
ill donate some for you to buy a barc if worst comes to worst. just /tell Erroneus (asskicker) /tell Finite (shippy) if you need help on chimeara.
Doubley if you are new, ill show you the ropes and help you out a bit

I've been told that you need to get whatever it is in SPATIAL (not a tell) or an email before the CSR's will accept it as proof.

Screenshots are never taken as proof of anything. I have several shots of me in Mando Armor. And my MDE experimenting on a Destroyer Droid too.
