I just came back to the game because of the RoTW expansion.
I used to like to solo mobs and make lots of credits, but we cant do that anymore.

Will the game ever be like it was for soloing?

If not, I may be added to the cancels. Sry guys, the rest of the game is great, but it is to hard to solo
and I only want to group rarely.

The game isn't solo based anymore. It's group based. Personally, I do like it that grouping is rewarded rather than penalized. However, I still don't see why the combat system had to change to do that.

But, the solo game needs to be reworked. Soloing should be made a viable option again, with progress being EQUAL in pace to what it was pre-CU.

Well I see nothing the the dev forums about solo improvement.
Looks like they are forcing groups or nothing.

If done right, soloing is still possible......

Just not for anything you want. you gotta choose your battles. I can solo lvl 80 non agro creature. But agro you will need a group for. But gone is the day of getting a buff and taking on a lair of graul maulers by yourself.

It is possible, but I dont want to take 1+ hours to kill 25 bols in a lair for 10k.
I like most all the other changes that I know of, but I am just saying that I
would still like to be able to solo big lairs quickly and make a lot of credits
so I can spend time on Role Playing or interacting with other players in the Cantina, etc.
I don't want to spend all my time grinding credits.

If a lair is going to take that long, it should at least be 100,000 credits or more.
I rememeber I used to make 3-5mil a day soloing many many many lairs and I had fun
doing it.

Well I hate to say it Linuxgamer, but if you are soloing there won't 25 bols coming out of it. Maybe 8-7 and if they are equal to your level you should be able to take them out pretty easily. The problem is it was too easy to make credits pr-cu. You could go solo lairs in like 30 seconds using your favorite AoE. Now you have to do a little work and I think it's great. I can still make credits like crazy, and if you really want to make money, I suggest trying faction missions ona planet like dantooine.

Um, try the terminals near Argo city on Dantooine. There are at least 15-20 Seathing Bols or Pickets per mission.
When you start hitting the lair, more of them spawn.

Well, I canceled.
I may check back in a year to see if the game has improved for solo play.

But then again, Star Trek Online and Lord of the Rings Online is in 2006,
so maybe this is the end of SWG completely for me.

Another satisfied customer

I hate to say it, but if you want to play solo, SWG isn't it now. If you don't like being grouped all the time, to progress, you won't like SWG. And it isn't going to change. Pub 20 removes visibility gain in groups for Jedi, a sure indicator that even they are supposed to be grouped all the time, and that this paradigm won't change anytime soon.

I always thought if there was one thing about the CU that WOULD crash the game's sub base it was the fact that everyone was pushed from a largely solo game to a group game, after 2 years. I enjoyed playing it both ways.

It's more of a change torwards the (gasp!!! dare I say it even though the devs shy from it) evercrack format. The systematic destruction of the entertainer, medic, and crafting professions is a sure sign of that. Along with the forced grouping and the level system.

BTW yes I know it is still possible to solo in game. It's just not worth the effort anymore. True sitting back and spamming X(AOE) made things easy. Spending 20-30min to try and complete a solo mission which just happened to spawn a tightnit group of NPC's 2 levels above you is a tad ridiculous. At 10k per mission your a long way from making nearly enough to pay for stims, spices, and foodbuffs. Let alone weapons that decay at a ridiculous rate with pup's and armor that gets shredded like its going out of style. On top of that repair kitsarent the greatest at repairing things and innate repair mods short of force sensitivity just don't exist. I also know that the levels were there. But the mods were not and that is what ties me to a mission terminal these days. Doesn't leave much for actuall game play.

I don't know about anyone else, but with Mcommando(which I'll prob drop for rifleman) and Msmuggler with a little pistoleer thrown in for good measure.....I can solo a lvl 82 bol mission in about 10 minuts......I use mabe 2 stims for the entire thing. It's all about the tactics...........And I've done this with my featherweight fwg5 pistol to make sure it wasn't my "uber powerfull" heavy weapons giving me an unfair advantage.

So, soloing may not be as easy as it used to be, but I find it is not the waste of time as it is being made out to be in this thread. I actually soloed the last 100k xp i needed to master smuggler.........

Also, I'm not a power gamer or one of those leet dudes(i dont speak leet, so you get it spelled in proper english lol), so if I as a casual player can do it, anyone can........

I solo'ed master smuggler from novice marksman. I never said anything about hard. I said it wasn't worth my time. Of course its like I had any choice. Not too many groups are willing to take a low level along for the ride.

Personally I would rather spend 15min getting a buff than 2 hours (not joking) trying to find a group.
