Thread: Station Access Advertised Too Early??

I am an SWG player. I also play EQ2. When I learned of the new "Station Access" pass that would allow me to have both games for one Low Price, I jumped at the chance. I signed up through EQ2, and then tried to find out how to link my SWG account. At this point, Sony was already advertising that SWG was a part of Station Access. This site announced:

"Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE), a worldwide leader in massively multiplayer online(MMO) gaming, today announced the addition of LucasArts' Star Wars Galaxies® to the Station Access™ subscription plan. Now, all SOE-developed massively multiplayer online games are available to subscribers for US$21.99 per month. Star Wars Galaxies will be added to Station Access on Feb. 1, 2005. "Adding Star Wars Galaxies to the mix brings all Sony Online Entertainment-developed MMO titles under a single umbrella subscription," said John Smedley, president, Sony Online Entertainment. "Station Access has been a compelling deal for our subscribers since it launched last year, but now it's a must-have for all online gamers." "

Yesterday, I tried to link SWG to my new Low Price Station Access by going online with Sony Customer Service. I have now been told that there is no way to hook up my two accounts, that there is no programming to make it work and no ETA. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING!

Now, I am paying $25.00 a month (bought into the extra stuff for EQ2) for a game that I could be paying only $15 amonthfor, just because I was promised on this website (and at this very moment on this website) that my twogaming accounts could be hooked together for one Low Price -- what Idid I get? Now I am paying $15 a month for SWG, and $25 a month for EQ2 -- net gain for Sony? $10 more of my money. What kind ofcustomerrelations is this! This is ridiculous.

As I see it (I have worked for lawyers for the past 10 years), Sony needs to evaluate what kind of relief they will give all the players who have been attracted by its FALSE ADVERTISING in the way of credits to their accounts when the system is up and running correctly -- let's face it, I guess I got into a Sony BETA Accounting program that will someday be fixed.

Please, let me and all the others duped into paying $10 more a month (for what?4 additional characters in EQ2? Give me a break!) know what we canexpect in the way of reconcilliation of our overpayments while a solution to this problemoccurs. And, Please!, take the advertising off this site promoting the linking of SWG and other games. This is a false and misleading statement that could be construed as consumer "bait-and-switch."

I have been a loyal player of SWG since December of 2003, not even a grumble from me about the pushed back Combat rebalance, revamp, whatever you want to call this pipe dream everyone has had for a whole year, that who knows when it will actually be realized (sorry - guess I am in a venting mood now). That is a game. This is real life and is hitting my REAL LIFE POCKETBOOK. This needs to be addressed NOW.

I find it odd they basically told you that you are out of luck. My close friend had the same trouble yesterday afternoon. She contacted them, and while they said they couldn't link the two seperate account names, the rep was willing to change oneof the station names over to match the other. They also told her they were working on a system that allows players to add differing station names to their Access account that would be ready "soon". Of course "soon" is relative at SOE.. To me it sounds like you either got an *** for a rep or a really lazy one. I would recommend trying again, this time try the live chat support. That's what my friend used, maybe it will give better success.

http://www.station.sony.com/en/services/help/help.jsp <---Here is the link to the support page, which also has the link to the live chat help. Best of luck, I know they can do something about it, it is just finding the one that will put the effort into it...

Well, that was who I talked to - the live chat help. He took down my email address and both my station names, but told me that I was out of luck (my interpretation, of course -- they were going to send me a copy of the conversation, but I have yet to receive it). My husband also tried to hook up his account today and was told the same thing, in live chat. He received the transcript. I need tohave him send it to me and I will cut & paste the appropriate excerpts later.

Well that sucks. NowI am left wondering which csr doesn't know what they are talking about. My friends csr she spoke with said they would change the station names over to one name and email her today or tomorrow verifying it had been done. Now I am wondering if she just got someone who had no clue, and that it can't really be done. Guess we'll know in a couple of days. Even still, hope something can/will be done to help you guys out.

Yes today i was in contact with SOE online and tried to get my station access setup and was tols that because i had already activated my eq2 account that it could not be done as the station names cannot be changed. So yea i ask why wasn't this told to anyone prior to signing up with station access. at no time did i see anything that said it can't be done with accounts that were open. And since stationaccess wasn't available when i bought eq2 when it came out and that i am a veteran SWG player from release. How are we supposed to get this done. so much for saving money. OH and of course when i wanted the conversatin sent to me they haven't done it for my records. Figures.

Do not sign up for station access if you want to play or have any plans at all to play, say SWG while being a merchant on EQ2.

(like most of us wanted to untilour SWG accounts were sucked under the umbrella of station access that our EQ2 accounts were on for the extra toons)

All Games under the Station Access can only be played one at a time...so if your SWG and EQ2 are seperate, KEEP EM THAT WAY FOLKS

BUT if you never plan on haveing both games run at once then by all means get the switch done and save some bucks.

oh and side note

The original StationAccess umbrella is/was meant for games shareing the sameStation Login Name , just because it is paid or ran by the same person does not link it.

I am not running both games at the same time for merchant in EQ2. That was not the reason I purchased Station Access. I puchased Station Access to save money. I am a mother of three with me being the sole breadwinner in the family. I try to cut corners as much as I can. EQ2 and SWG are the two Luxuries I give myself, and when I saw that I could get them both for one LOW price, I then decided to sign up.

With the other point in your message, I understand what you are saying, BUT - Station Access was NOT advertised with any disclaimer with that fact PROMINENTLY stated in their ADVERTISING! This is a detail that Sony overlooked. Maybe it was just that they weren't very forward thinking in their quest to get people to sign up when it was offered. Well, now they have the problem. They need to find a way to implement it, and soon. Otherwise, they are $10 up in their coffers for my account for the first month I signed up (which they promptly billed me for), and any other person who signed up with the intent of linking their two accounts, as that is what Station Access was meant to do. Fix it Sony (hehe, been hearing that since the launch of SWG, lol).

Okay - I see that point that there are two different station names for both accounts, BUT - I only have ONE NAME, and ONE CREDIT CARD that I am using. Simple database usage - the person's name is the Primary Key, lol.

While I feel you pain, why didn't you just sign up your EQ2 account with your station name that you have SWG account with? I did that and no problems at all. 21.99 a month for both. You signed up with two different accounts and expected them to be merged.

Hopefully this has been resolved by now... I have been on All Access since 2/28/05 and am able to play both SWG and EQ2 for the lower combined price.

There wasn't good information on how to combine the two accounts. What I did was cancel my SWG membership and wait for the subscription to end, and then upgrade my EQ2 to All Access. I was then able to log in to SWG again.
