I reinstalled everything recently, and noticed how much of a pain it is to get the whole game patched. Install the game, then JtL, then load up and get a whole new launchpad, then get 14 or so patches and updates.
Maybe it would be possible to make up an .iso file that members can download that, when burned to a DVD or CD disk will install the game and its updates in one fell swoop. If a disk image is too much (the original is three disks) maybe we can pay a shipping charge and small fee to get a new set of CD's or a DVD mailed to us.

You could actually make your own pretty easily. Just copy all of the .tre files to a CD/DVD (its 2.8 gb total according to my count, so its either 1 DVD or 4 CD's, soon to be 5). Then when you want to reinstall, just install the game normally then copy everything from disk to your StarWarsGalaxies/ directory.
On the other side of things, I also recommend keeping a copy of the launchpad directory on a spare disk as well. If you ever need to reinstall SWG but don't have all your disks for some reason if you fire up the launchpad it will download and install everything (not the cleanest way of doing things since I think it doesn't put much in the registry.... but it can save you in a pinch).

what i've done in the past if i format my drive or need to reinstall the game, is to copy the entirestarwarsgalaxies folderto an alternate location (like a 2nd hard drive). after you install the disks again, just copy that entire folder back to its original location, overwriting everything in the process, and voila....everything is back to how it was prior...including all ingame settings, options, macros, etc.

Yeah, I just burn the whole dang swg directory to a DVD. But I still have to use the orifinal disks to get the registry entries in. Maybe they can write a little program that will do that, and make it available for download. Honestly, this is the best answer I think for htose of us who have been playing. The only reason why I use the original disks is to get the Windows Registy data entered so the game will run.
But that doesnt solve the problem for new players. People who join with RotW will need to buy the original game, plus RotW. Will theRotW installation patch the core game at the same time? Probably not. So these new players may still have to download 14 patches worth of info, plus a new launchpad.

Hmmm, I just installed the other day from the raw launchpad (just copied Sony directory from another PC and started it up) and it all worked just fine without the registry entries.

No need to burn all the *.tre files since the majority are already in the SWG CD's. Burning just the patch*.tre files is enough. After you reinstall the game copy over the patch*.tre files. You'll still need to update but very little. All the patch files fit in just one CDR.
