The following was text I sent to SOE in an email, regarding my cancelling all of my subscriptions to SWG:
All my accounts have been cancelled. I did not receive satisfaction on a ticket, which was responded to by a CSR named Bruce. My ticket was in regards to my character name being changed. I had my character name for 471 days, reported bugs with it, reported other players for harrassment, had tickets responded to, even spoken directly to a CSR on more than one occasion. My character name was deemed appropriate for all of that time. It was never to my knowledge deemed to be anything less. I have accumulated many things in the last 470 days on this game. I have made many friends as well. They know my name. They have always seen it as a harmless, inert name, and i have never seen anyone offended by it. The character name was B'adass. It was an implication of a rogue, or a scoundrel, in the interest of role-playing. The word 'ass' which is contained within that name, is not an offensive word to anyone. The word 'ass' is included in G-rated film, or on television without a rating. A badass is someone not to be messed with, someone that is a reckless troublemaker. This game is rated "TEEN", and in so doing, this should further remove any caution for such a harmless name. This was never seen as inappropriate. The CSR referred to the possibility that it may have "slipped thru" for a period of time. The period of time allowed in the game was over 470 days, and included multiple contacts with CSR's and other players. I am unwilling to accept the judgement and the childishness of such a ridiculous ruling. The name is harmless, it did no harm previous to this date, and would have continued to do no harm after this date, had I not been insulted so profusely by the Customer Service Department in general. I have payed way too much in this game to be insulted like this. I have been faithful to SOE, have participated in all the SWG bug reports, been upstanding and never exploited the game, held myself in a strong measure of honorability, and put up with a large amount of bugs and glitches for the past umpteen patches.
All this time, and I am not even sent an email about my player's name being removed. This is insulting. And unnacceptable. I have therefore cancelled all of my accounts with SWG, and will not be playing another game from SOE, due to the fact that I am unhappy with the way i was treated, and will not stand for it.
If there could be any possible response to this email, and any way that there could be some sort of redemption on the part of SOE and the CS Dept, my email address is: **********
I cannot see why i deserve this treatment. Not even one word on this was ever sent to me.
Is this how you treat "valued" customers?
Very well.

More than likely the name "slipped through the cracks" because no one had reported it previously. I doubt the CSRs all of a sudden decided one day, "Hey, let's pick on this guy!" My guess is that someone *did* find it offensive or inappropriate and sent in a /report on the name, and the CSRs took action because of that /report.
They reserve the right to change names that are offensive or deemed inappropriate. Can you honestly say that someone would name their child "B'adass" in the Star Wars universe? Not that there aren't *plenty* of people running around with non-immersive names. It's more a matter that no one has felt strongly enough about it to file a /report.

Although I have no problem with the name from a name nanny perspective I do from the point of view that it has absolutely no similarity
with any of the star wars films / books and is completely out of keeping with them. I really hate all these modern names that are around.
