I read the forums avidly. Sometimes it's the only way to get information. I can't play the game over the week-end because the computer that I use for the game is not at my home, so I read today that Bria was down. Then I read that there was a Download. I further read that a CSR ingame said that there was not DL. Lastly, I read that someone playing chacked the file, and some of the files contained Pub 23 in the file name.
There is not post about this at all, so would anyone, bearing in mind the last few days events, wonder why we are suspitious of the SOE Development team?
Does anyone know what the DL was, whether it was another publish that failed to get notes, or a Stealth Nerf, Stealth Publish, or what? If anyone has this information, please PM me, or email me ( in my profile). If they've done something stupid again, I'll be done with this crap. I hate to be suspicious, but there's obviously been a DL of some type, and no one seems to be willing to say what it was about.

Somtimes they release a patch to the client early to cut massive downloads on publish days. Also, when word processing it's considered bad practice to tab new paragraphs.. Use a line break

Sorry, maybe I'm just paranoid. But would it kill them to put a small note that there will be a DL? Even if it's like you said. Especially the way feeling are after the last few days.

I suppose SOE always has been bad at community relations, and it probably always will be. They seem to see the good feedback and ignore anything they don't like. They don't always care about the customers needs.. They lost 50,000 subscriptions within the month of the CU release.. but they saved the money on development costs with a joint team.

I dunno...I thought "Down for maintenance" pretty much sums up what's wrong. They don't need to inform us of every little tweak, fix, .dll repair.

I understand, but they do quietly nerf some stuff without us knowing until it's gone live.. Maybe they should publish patch notes with all the nitty gritty stuff in there.

If you enabled the option to get downloads in the background or when
patching in the Launchpad at any time in the past, you would get any
extra items that we are pushing to the client for future patches (be it
artwork or whatever). There is nothing to be suspicious about and you
have probably just not noticed it before

ohhhhh yeah. thought that BITS was only for downloading coding for upcoming expansions(like the ithorian and sullustan skeletons for jtl so non-jtl'ers would have it). Wish they'd tell me what cool little pictures are downloaded though. Would be kinda nice to know what possibly neat future content we're getting |

Nah, I think we should go with the "he's being paranoid" theory... -Bux |

I can actually agree with Garva (who would have thought, since I do not like him at all), but that has been going on for at least a month. I was under the impression that they did a 2 - 3 minute download 2 or 3 times a week, so it would cut down on the half hour to 45 minute download when the patch came out. I have nothing to back this up except except for my own experiance and not noticing anything wrong with the game when I do notice the small downloads, and never hearing/reading any outcries here in the forums. |
