Thread: RE: SWG for PS2 -- a question for the Devs
I couldn't agree with you more, man. Greedy, manipulative, and intentionally deceptive.

Oh for goodness sake !!!!!!!!!
That has to be THE most ridiculous thing I have ever read on any of these boards.
I'm as much against the CU as the next person but if that really is the way you are feeling about this game, it's history and the direction this company is taking it in then you seriously need to get out and re-acquaint yourself with the real world because you have lost touch with it .......... totally.
Sadly, you'll probably be able to find some bleeding heart, do gooder, human rights, low lifelawyer to take on your case and sue SOE for your "distress".
mm.... ![]()
That's a good idea ![]()
But it still sucks big time for us vets. Too bad we don't seem to count anymore.

Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided
Publisher: LucasArts
Developer: Sony Online Entertainment
Original Release Date: December 2002
The Official Story:
One of the grand admirals of PlayStation 2 vaporware, Star Wars Galaxies for consoles has been thrown around since its announcement in May of 2002. Developed jointly by members of Sony Online Entertainment and LucasArts, the PS2 version of Galaxies was supposed to be a much different experience than the PC edition; and was expected to be one of the biggest titles released on the platform. In the two years since the unveiling, though, nothing new has surfaced regarding its eventual release; not even a hint to let us know that it's still coming.
IGN contacted the publisher for comment and was told that "LucasArts is still just focusing on the PC version before addressing the console editions." Unfortunately, no other statements were given and none of our other questions (re: whether or not the game is still coming out) could be answered. Depending on how one wants to interpret the statement's terminology, the status of Galaxies can go either way.
Behind the Scenes:
There are a myriad of reasons that Galaxies has yet to be made for the PlayStation 2. Whether you want to attribute it to technology hurdles, an unproven pay-per-play market for consoles or the less than expected reception of the PC version, the point is there are plenty of downsides to choose from. The March 2004 release date for the PS2 HDD didn't help either and Sony Online's other persistent RPGs for the system haven't exactly moved mountains in terms of market impact. These are but a few of the motives behind the fact that players will likely never play Galaxies on a console anytime this generation.
Current Status:
The Sarlac will be finished digesting Jabba's Skiff Guards before Galaxies ever sees life on the PlayStation 2.
Update: LucasArts contacted IGN just days after this story ran and finally confirmed with us officially what we had alrady stated -- Galaxies is now definitely cancelled.
