Hi,
Can you tell me what will happen if when the CU is due to go live, the large majority of the player base is still opposed to it? I am aware that the poll on the in-testing forum is not the only one that is taken into consideration, but if there is still mass opposition over all the polls when the time comes for the update to go live, is there any chance whatsoever that the development team would take a step back and say "ok, this isn't what the majority want" and roll back to the old version? Is it even a possibility? Or is it not a decision that is the dev teams' to take? If so, if the situation was that the majority were opposed to it, would SOE or whoever makes that decision even contemplate pulling/not releasing it, or is the CU definitely going ahead regardless?
I'm not trying to start a flame fest or anything here, just wanted to know the answer to the above, apologies if it breaks any rules.
Thanks and regards,
AM

Doubtfull that you will get an answer. However, I know where you are comming from. Its kind of interesting really why the forum polls even continue to be taken when they are the same result everyday. Most arnt going to wake up one day with some random bug fixes done and decide, oh hey I like the CU now. The polls in the first few weeks may have been usefull, but not anymore. Its either you like it or you dont, the only things that are going to change are minor fixes etc. Its just unfortunate that the early poll results and feedback were not properly acted upon. If no changes were going to be made according to the polls or feedback, why take the polls and ask for that feedback. Let me give you an example, there is a huge dislike for the new particle or "magic" effects and many of the posts concerning this have been in a constructive manor, but is this going to be changed/toned down/removed? No. Well then why ask what we think of it?

De-nial isn't just a river in Egypt. It seems to run rampant in the SOE offices. I'm sure the polls are somewhat distorted (but so are the exit surveys, since there is less limit on how many times you can fill that out), but I'm also pretty sure that the poll is mostly accurate, the fact that DAILY the posts hit the forums backing up WITH SPECIFICITY what isn't liked about the CU and that accounts ARE and have been cancelled supports the poll results.
Basically, SWG will lose subs over the CU. There is no doubt about this.
The question is, can they get more new subs (and keep them) to make up for the loss?
I don't think so. SWG is 2 years old. It will never create a flood of new players, at best it can create a steady trickle.
And that comes from word of mouth.
How likely is SWG to get positive recommendations to friends and family?
Not bloody likely. Not with this pathetic update, the Nerf from HE--, and the even more pathetic lack of customer service and communication.
Stick a fork in it. The CU goes live, the game is DONE.
Calling this thing a combat "upgrade" is the most cynical piece of marketing ever done.
What needs to happen is someone have the stones to CANCEL the CU, put it back into development, reprogram ROTW to work with the existing system, then gradually introduce the ACCEPTED CU ideas back into live through publishes.

I agree,i've cancelled my account purely because of the CU,its something i didnt sign up for,and the fanboi wannabees who seem to love it at the moment will soon start crying when the servers start dying.
No doubt they will get an influx pf new players after the film, but for how long??
