My friend Bollux(Forum name)was banned today for posting his fan fiction "Holonet News" on various server forums.

He has been writing and posting these satirical news stories about current events in the game almost since launch.

They are quite funny, topical and add alot of flavor to thesespam ridden - flamefest forums.

This is a high profile player ingame and on the forums, very well liked among the playerbase, allways a true gentleman, very highly regarded.

I need to know why he was banned for this now, and why others who commit similar offenses are not banned in a similar manner?

If these forums aren't moderated on a consistent basis, anytime you exercise "selective authority" it only serves toanger your customers.

Right now, at this point in the game, the last thing you need is moreangry customers.

I was recently served a 24-hour ban for posting a thread entitled "Quitting over the CU? Sign here." The thread was deleted and my forum usage banned, no explanation or warning given.

Not surprisingly, my thread entitled "Enjoy the CU or returning because of it? Sign here" has *not* been deleted, and I was not banned for it.

The message from administration appears to be "You can have whatever opinion you want, so long as its the same as ours." If you disagree or make any effort to locate others who disagree, you are termed a "troller" under the SOE Inquisition and punished by nameless moderators who act with impunity. They are forced to employ these tactics in an effort to pull the wool over the community's eyes and paint a magic picture in which everyone loves what they're doing. It's the only way they can maintain "very positive feedback," to use John Smedley's phrase: any negative feedback gets deleted, the posters banned.

Please enjoy the links in my signature.

Yep. been there, done that. If you get banned unfairly, contact LucasArts. They told at least one player that they were interested in hearing about such actions.

1. We are not playing favorites when your thread is removed but someone elses is not, we get over 40,000 post a day, and we cannot, and will never be able to read them all and catch every problem thread. That is why we have the report to moderator link in threads. So before you say "but so and so's thread wasnt removed" please go to that thread and click the report to moderator link.

2. If you are going to violate any rule in our Community Policies or Other Policies (such as the E.U.L.A. or TOS) expect for your post to be removed and action taken, those policies are your warning.

3. We understand that sometimes people get upset and post irrationally and usually do not suspend accounts permanently based on that but we do keep a record of each posters history and if appropriate accounts can be banned.

4. Posting in a courteous manner, does not mean you have to be 100% positive, you can give negative feedback in a courteous manner and it will not be removed. But posting a "courteous" rant about how you hate so and so is not feedback nor is it constructive.

A. Point #3 above, Please, do us the favor. DO IT! Be the best thing you could do for me and the other SOE customers. DO IT NOW!
B. Point #1 above, nobody said anything about playing favorites, what we do talk about though is abusive use of power, deleting posts that dont follow SOE's "master plan" and disagree with them, any topic that can by nature of the seriousness rally opposition to SOE's mismanaged planning, and deleting multiple posts by the same player even though each post is different in nature-thread-topic because you want to silence a greater theme, not showing moderation when moderating, carrying a Big Stick and liking to use it too much.

As someone else pointed out, by Garva's standards, Tiggs and Thunderheart should be "suspended" for posting all these "focus" and "poll" threads on the TC forum. When the Devs do it, that's OK. When one of we mere PAYING CUSTOMERS (we pay for these forums too) it's a "troll". That is also playing favorites. Those threads only gate lots of negative feedback, which gets all the more negative due to the lack of communication, and lack of any effort at all to correct the common things beinbg complained about. The forums would be more peaceful (and honest) if posting of those threads would just cease. Post the release notes and lock it's thread...
