For those of you who haven't followed the link, yet, notice that the SWG box is emblazoned with the PS2 logo.
Explains why the CU is so dumbed down.

ACK! no!.....this will probably destroy our already frail game......i think it'll get all the love, and we will be left mortally wounded by the CU, to die. Any devs wanna object....i wont flame them, id love to hear from you guys on anything except letters to the community, which you never reply to, just leave us to speculate among ourselves.

I guess that's why SOE is unoncerned about giving us `da boot. They have millions of PS2 users they can market this game to.

Long long ago, before this game launched they said it was gonna be available on PS2. I expected it to be on PS2 at launchtime and cant ... i mean"CAN" believe it took them this long. Just for those of you who didnt know.

Much as I dislike the CU, this has got to be a hoax. Check out the website, and you will see the announcement for the product was made in 2002.
This has been floating around a couople years. I mean come on, if they were going to release a console version towards the end of the year, do you really think it will be the base version only?

I can dig up the link if you really want, but it is most definately a rumor. At one point back in '02 SOE was thinking about doing a PS2 version, but it got scrapped some time ago (along with any other console version). There's an IGN article about it that contains confirmation from SOE that the project was scrapped.

A couple things you missed that mean this is possibly true:
- only the US release was confirmed as cancelled
- a project being cancelled 3 years ago does not prevent it being resurrected later. Particularly if the person who's pet project it was gets a promotion in the mean time.
- There are at least 1 other European and 1 Asian vendor listing the game for PS2.
- At least 1 of the vendors has confirmed that they believe it to be a current and valid offering.
- If it is true it may actually be on seperate servers and for technical (or more likely marketing) reasons aren't releasing the whole package at once.
True or not, it would just be nice to have the clarification. Not that I really expect it, SOE doesn't seem to place much value in customer relations lately.

Give me three minutes and I can create a graphic emblazoned with Commodore Amiga on it. This website is out of date and the person who verified it must have basically thought: It's in the computer, therefore it must be real. Come on. Then there is this tidbit:
A massively multiplayer online RPG set in the Star Wars universe, Galaxies allows you to create your own character from species such as Wookiee, Human, Mon Calamari, Bothan, Rodian, Trandoshan, Zabrak and Twi'lek...
Looks like the same lineup of races from release, not now. Why leave off Sullistans and Ithorians? Because when the text was written, these did not exist. This ad is old and stale, end of subject.
