(This is a repost from a less appropriate forum...)

Dear SOE,

I'm quitting. I'm quitting your boards and playing your game instead. I'm sick of wading through piles of useless, stupid, emotionally stulted playerpoststo try and glean a few gems of information about your game. I'm done. I'm not even sure I'm ever going to beta test any of your stuff again and if I do, I'm not posting bugs or issues on your threads! I'll do it via /bug and through your in-game questionairres.

Why? Because when I'm on the boards and I read the intense negativity I,for just a brief moment, almost feel the anger as if it were my own. Yeah! I might say indignantly. Why are they doing that! That's not right! OMG OMG OMG OMG this is teh sux0r!

Then I wake the hell up, realize its a friggin game, and go about my friggin day. I manage an IT Helpdesk. I don't need any additional exposure to people with low emotional intelligence.

And if you go and change the game I love so much? Well I'll play the new game. And if I don't like the new game? I'll tell you so via /bug or via in-game questionairres. And if you don't listen? Well you and I both know who your competitors are. And they're strong. Real strong. There will be no discussion. No emotion except a little nostalgia. Simple transferrage...

Sorry if you think I'm abandoning your "process", SOE. But, you see, the process is broken. I look forward to the day when a game HAS NO BOARDS AT ALL.

  • All game system development and discussion takes place in an in-gamecommunity system so that disaffected, account cancelling*edit* hold no sway.

  • An in-game system means that players are assured that developers are in-game, right along side them.

  • This system would be "separated" from the actual game to some extent to preserver immersion, but players could easily pull up a special chat box or window that would allow them to post ideas and discuss things critically within the game client.

  • Bored cubicle-dwellers such as myself would have a read-only, internet accessible 'forum' where they can see the in-game discussions at any time.

And to you bored-cubicle dwellers might I suggest my method of getting an SWG fix in the middle of the day: open up a blog somewhere and post your thoughts there. Bringthose thoughtsin-game after they are organized and concise!

See you allin Moenia.

/agree

I usually get depressed on the boards. Sometimes I laugh, because of people threatening to quit the game. They should stick to playing, and having fun...
