Thread: Please fix/improve forum autologin/logout
issues, however the login cookie and the 20 minutes of inactivity time
out are 2 separate things.
The first is not intentional the 2nd is (20 minute inactivity logout)
We cannot allow people to stay logged in while inactive for long
periods of time with the amount of posters that use this forum when we
had it set to 2 hours or so the forums became unusable.
Save Pasword does work on Firefox (for me at least) so I'm guessing its
something With IE settings (that lithium is aware of via note from us)

You are correct, I am using IE and this is where the save password feature fails (for me at least, using IE6) As for the 20 minutes autologout: Why would the forums become unstable? The only thing I can think of why this would be the case is that the forums cant handle thousands of logged in users at the same time and so lithium prefers users to browse the forums while not logged in because it saves server CPU power. This tactic could go horribly wrong though in cases where more people need to be logged in like during a mass beta with closed beta forums... Well I hope you'll be able to persuade Lithium to do something about this, I like these forums but this login/logout stuff is cumbersome... |

Keeping track of all those sessions on the server side is a huge issue. Whether you use the file system or a Database to store serialized session information: More never makes it better |

GarVa it's not that the "Save Password" checkbox only works with Firefox. It's just that Firefox has a password manager that saves your passwords so Firefox fills in the password for you, not the lithium "Save Password" checkbox, FYI So that checkbox still does nothing |
