why should they get invited? it was never stated that JTL beta players would get into ToOW beta.

I agree. I was in the beta for the original game but did not get invited to JTL or RotW. Nor did I expect to.

Beta is not about getting in every one, its
actually pretty random except for the "event" type things. Just because
you were in one beta does not mean you are entitled to nor does it mean
you are excluded from other betas. It's as simple as "does your name
get pulled out of the hat" this time.

That's a shame really, as if you can't see or preview the content, then it's a debate whether you buy it - eg i didn't buy ROTW till very much later ( about 2 weeks ago and then only on one account).

Whereas JTL i saw the beta and bought it for all accounts (on pre-order for 1 to get the flash speeder) since i knew it was worth buying.

That is pitty. It would only help if you keep an eye on people that helped you to ttrack major bugs in previous betas. Although I see (and understand) that this decision has more 'political' than technical origin.

Mmm random sampling that yeilds 1% intelligent people with which to properly test hehe.

Just ranting; I've applied for probably 20 beta/alpha testing's in various games over the last 5+ years and never gotten a single invite

I've always been curious of the game alpha/beta applicationsthat have you answer questions and fill out your personal experience etc etc. I suppose putting down that i'm an avid xxgenrexx gamer currently programmer with experience in software needs analysis, design, and extensive QA must be more damaging than helpful

I was in the JTL beta, but never got an invite to the RotW or ToOW beta...but at least I am lucky and got invited to the CU beta, which is still going on

Nah.. my mind was 99.9% made up that I was going to cancel the accounts anyway. I added some drama to it to make it seem that way I guess (venting frustration at the lack of content). I will be keeping an eye on the expansion and reading the boards. If it looks like it will be worth my time, I might reactivate one account to check it out.

Do you really want to get involved with the beta this time? With the way RotW was released, it was a complete sham. Bugs left, right and center. With this next expansion, I don't see how they can avoid the same pitfalls as the said RoTW. So far I know of only about three quality people involved in the beta, I only hope the Rogue5 and the devs involved pay particular attention to these people.

I don't like the way people are choosen for the beta is done, cause there are a lot who are there just to see what is new and don't always report or provide feedback. However with the said people I have mentioned, it is hard for the development team to pick out these people unless they know them well. I suspect one of them is very well known by the dev team and glad he's in the beta. Problem is from bug reports he supplies, a lot of what he mentions isn't dealt with in a timely manner.

The other thing as been mentioned just cause you were in beta xyz and does not mean you should automatically be involved with this beta. If you did enough quality feedback in previous betas, then you might get hand picked. Even then it should not be a certainity..
