Thread: A Community Relations post
Dear SOE employees,
I am very confused at this point.
I have been a member of this GREAT community since opening day June 30, 2003. We were told that the game takes place just after the destruction of the first Death Star.
Why then are we not concentrating on content from that day and age? Instead we choose to allow our operations & marketing departments to decide what content we should include.
Can someone on the SOE side of the servers please give OUR GREAT COMMUNITY some type of announcement for where this game is going please?
When they first put the servers online, we had an update every 1-3 months on where the game was going... Our in development pages were being renewed before they were even called 'in development'.
Where is this game going? What can we expect?
If you want to make more money in this game and have player retention, the managers of SOE need to look at bringing back purpose to the game as well as moreCommunity Relations and feedback. Respond to posts more, browse the profession forums. We have a great tool on this site called "Dev Tracker." When I used it to see where Devs such as Tiggs has visited, I see that she goes to the profession forums and puts a post about how they have a new opening for XYZ forum leaders. I understand that you have those leaders in place to help gather ideas and such, but a dev posting themself on the forum in response to questions would be really great!
Successful MMO's have strived off of player input and FOLLOWING THROUGH with their ideas. Is it that there is not enough staff?
All of us cant wait for Hoth. We cant wait to visit Master Yoda's home (who is still alive at this point). Get some great quests from him. Especially those who have become FS or even better: Jedi!
We can't wait to fight in the swamps on his home planet of Degobah.
We can't wait to visit the Cloud City and get quests on the platforms of it.
We can't wait to experience the greatest star wars saga ever told!
The question is: Will we? Will we see these memorable places that so many of us have dreamed of visiting.
We know you guys are working hard on getting us into Star destroyers and the like. But before we do that, can't we have a little update from the higher levels of staff about where this game is going anymore?
I'm a software developer myself and I understand that all levels of content must match within each other's capability to provide stability and balance. If you want to hire volunteers such as myself to stay in touch with community members, lets do it! Provide them with more information other than "we're looking into this" or "it's a known issue."
Please don't take this as an attack of any level. I acknowledge that you all are working hard. Especially Tiggs. She took a job most likely none wanted and has tried to work at it. For me though, I love this game's potential. It's what keeps me with thousands of others playing this game. In hopes, that things show progress towards something.
This isn't a rant nor is it a flame. It is merely what it is: an inquiry of the future of this game.
The last question of the day is: What will you choose to do with this information?
Sincerely,
Josh
