Thread: If a major change was made to SWG... shouldn't the Devs know if it was intended or not?
Posting here in hope of some sort of response.
Ever since Publish 24 went live the resource caps altered. I can handle this change if its going to be permanent, although itsannoying that resources that cost a fortune will now be aweful compared to the new caps, and it would also be sad that no-one thought to communicate it to us before it went live.
Anyway, my issue is, after days now the only update we have been given is "This is being investigated now to see what is going on. I am not saying if it is a bug or as intended until after the investigation."
Now, surely the Dev team know whether this was intended or not. They write the software and must have a design plan. So this was either intended, or not.
Why can't anyone give us a straight answer?

Holly bat poop, can you give some numbers regarding the caps?
I would guess that this is a stealth nerf towards making loot better than crafted stuff. Espcially weapons and armor.
More BS thrown at crafters. NICE one.

Basically it all seems to be capping at 1000 now, main impact has been with Conductivity for Shipwrights and Weaponsmiths.
Your Ok if yourschematic calls for a named resource, but if it calls for just "Iron" or "Steel" etcthen your in trouble, well you can still make it but at a much lower standard than you could before publish 24. Seems to be the new Mustafarian resources that have thrown it out of whack as if you go there all the resources are over pre-publish 24 caps.
Aside from the fact that its hurt people who have spent a long time getting good resources there is also the issue thatas you can't place harvesters on the new planet your forced to manually sample resource (imagine that for shipwrights!) or spend millions on 30k kits.
As I said, its not like we are asking for something difficult, we just want to know whether its a bug or not. How can the designers of a game not know that? Why does it take an investigation to decide.

Please tell us what new resources have now come to Mustafar. Also, if there are any Uber, high stats resources, how about you tell us specifically what they are. Perhaps we can get big sampling teams together to get this new good stuff before it disappears.
The reason I ask is this- if there are newly named resources, they won't have categories on SWGCraft.com to put them into for a while.

Its being fixed thank goodness.
So I guess the answer I was looking for was "Its a bug"
The problem lies with the resources for Mustafar.
Apparently, most of the development team was not briefed and/or forgot about the changes to the crafting system regarding resource caps. Therefore, when they coded the Mustafar resources, they were still thinking "High numbers are better numbers." The Mustafar resources, particularily Mustafar Steel, don't have resource gates; they can go all the way to 1000 Conductivity.
When the Mustafar resources were coded in to the resource table, the crafting system looked at the highest available resource caps and immediately adjusted itself to take them into account.
That is the essence of the change, and because one team does not talk to or apparently remember what the other team does, the change is a> not intended and b> unknown to either development team....
...until it hits Live, whereupon the players start noticing and complaining.
Because there is a vague possibility that this change *was* intended, the CSR team, headed by Tiggs, can only say "Well, we passed it on to investigate whether this is an intended change or not."
Now the question becomes, do the development teams 'fess up that someone made a mistake and correct the mistake, or do they clam up, cover their butts, and turn around to say to the players "Working as intended."
