Transferring your character to another account, galaxy or account and galaxy is a big decision that can be really stressful, so naturally you want to be sure on what they are like. I went through the biggest one myself -transferring from one Galaxy on one account to another Galaxy on a different account with items - so I'm making a little guide to help other people feel more confident about the process.
"With Items" transfers do not include crates, resources, items in your datapad like ships and vehicles, or structures you have built.
Special Notes on Transfers with Items:
- You can transfer as much as you can wear and carry. This includes having on a pack with 50 items inside it. I had a full pack on and 80 items in my top inventory plus I was wearinga Nightsister bicep and some clothing.
- Things like ADKs, harvester self-power deeds and other veteran rewards will transfer.
- Customization on things like clothing goes to the default setting of the crafting process. For example -the sports bustier I wore through the transferwas white and black on Scylla, but when I logged onto Kettemoor, it had reverted to the pink and blue that is the default in the crafting process before the tailor picks colors. The names of items don't change, but they do lose the maker mark.
- Stats stay the same such as with ship components. I had a shield generator and disruptor in my pack. Presumably, this would extend to any item with individual statistics.
- Since the patch of September 15th, credits are included in "with items" transfers. This information has not yet (as of 9/28/05) been updated on the service page. They are included.
- Badges, quests and unused experience points are listed in the section of transfers without items as not transferring. Aftermy transfer with items I still had all my badges and unused experience points.I wouldn't rely on having those if you are going on either kind oftransfer since it's not clear if they are only not included in the transfers without items. If you are planning onusing that experience, it's probably saferto use it before you transfer in case you lose it. Token respecs don't seem to transfer.
Tips for Having a Smooth Transfer:
You can't foresee everything that will happen -especially if you experience a bugged transfer - and you might forget to do something, but here are some suggestions of things to do that might make your experience easier.
- Don't rush things. Plan your transfer in advance. It's not guaranteed that it will happen, but in most cases nothing goes wrong. Take your time to make sure you have everything set the way you want it.
- Once you decide you are going to transfer to a new Galaxy, sell the things you have that you can't transfer such as resources or crates. The credits from this can actually amount to a lot if you've been a crafter for a long time with a nice stockpile.
- Make sure you have a list of alternate namesprepared for when you do transfer because you may not be able to get the one you want. If you are transferring to the same Galaxy you Will have to change your name. If you are transferring to another Galaxy you may have to change it. If a name has been in use within 7 days of your transfer, you will not be able to use it. A prompt screen will come up asking you to enter a new name.
- Check your character sheet to make sure you have all 10 lots free. If you have a structure somewhere and can't remember where it is, you can create a CSR ticket and they will help you find it. If you know you don't have any structures up but don't show all 10 lots free, it's been known to happen for lot count to get bugged. A CSR ticket can also resolve that issue.
- Check your datapad for ships, droidsand vehicles. If you are transferring to the same galaxy, have friendshold your droids and vehicles for you until you areswitched. If you are moving to another galaxy andhave anything like a BARC or AV21, sell or try to trade it for a deed to take with you in your inventory. Empty your shipcomponents and redeed your ships. All of this will go in your inventory. I had a Belbullab deed in mine that went through just fine in addition to thosetwo ship components.
- Check your safety deposit to make sure it is empty and withdraw all your credits from the bank.
- Using three packs (or some other container), plan out and prioritize what you are packing to take. You might be surprised if you've been playing a long time how few items 130 can be. Make one the things you Know you want to take, one things you don't have to take if you run out of room, and the middle one things you aren't sure about between the two.
-If you are able to, make a character on the new Galaxy to check out the market there. Sometimes you will see that it is worth selling things on the galaxy you are on and replacing them on the new one so you can have room for something else in your inventory. It will give you an idea ahead of time on where to shop and what to expect from the economy as well.
- When you are all set to go, writedown what you have in your inventory and pack(or take a screenshot). You can check your list after you transfer in case it seems like you're missing something. I even wrote down the stats on the ship parts I took.
-Double check your safety deposit and bank that you have all items and credits withdrawn, your character sheet that you have all 10 lots free, and your datapad to make sure you have no droids, ships or vehicles in it that you don't mind losing.
-If something goes wrong, try to remain calm. If you lose something in the process that is supposed to go through such as credits, contact the CSRs. In your ticket include a line to the effect of "Please do not close this ticket before speaking to me live." Be assertiveand respectful, but don't take no for an answer. Sometimes the particular CSR you're talking to doesn't know any better - keep trying until you find one who does or one who will forward you to a supervisor.
- Have fun with your transfer
(I willupdatethisif any detailsare added to the service in the future.)

Just wanted to double check about credits - Do you need to have the credits on you and not in a bank account to transfer?

A few notes/warnings:
1. stacked weapon components do not transfer right. you will end up with only 1 of that item and not a stack.
ie. I tried to take a stack of 5 reinforced casings and I only had 1 when the transfer was over.
2. colored crystals all transferbut turn red on the other end.
3.you WILL lose all faction points, so use them before you go.
4. Any special schematics you have learned, will be lost.
ie. Trandoshan hunters rifle, executioner's hack, etc...

also, dont bring your clothing or armor. They revert to their default customization. However i highly recommend bring all cybernetic arms, they turn out cool on the other side

What about cloths/armorwith mods (AA/CA) - will the mods stick despite the color reverting to default?

Yes. Mods still stick on the clothing.
Don't know about Armor but I would think they would.

I'm pretty sure if you wanted them to stay on that account you'd have to pay for 2 transfers - off and back, but ask customer service to be sure.

Hoping for a response from Tiggs or the like here, but if anyone can help then please do.
I would just like to know why the transfer of Jedi and force-sensitive characters is not allowed - is it because there are reasons that they do not want these players to move, or because the technology used does not allow it?
It is so frustrating that when I began this game the European servers did not exist, so I started on one of the others. All my time has gone into that character, and after achieving and templating a Jedi, the subsequent alt. But being from the UK, my ping on the server is always 120+, and in high end pvp this is such a huge disadvantage, not to mention the dreadful lag that occurs when doing just simple things.
I created a character on a European server just to try it out, and it's so much better with a decent ping. Are there plans to ever allow such transfers to take place, if the technology actually even allows it?
Thanks for any help

It is not allowed because of the way you get jedi and the extra character slot (its server based)

I see, so it's actually technically unfeasible. Thanks for the clarification Garva. |

If a user is FS, why can't they transfer if they agree to giving up all FS boxes -- some wouldn't even mind starting with no badges, etc if they could transfer servers |

I transfered with (2) crafted Adk'd weapons and they came through fine, my RIS armor with attachments came through with only a color change to default brown. My transfer was also instantaneous. |

I'm just being cautious here, i just kinda demo'd the transfer routine without actually confirming it, and noticed this popup box...
Even though you are moving with items, this process will still delete any factory crates, credits, resources, items in datapad and structures associated with your character. Are you SURE you want to proceed?
now i'm not trying to be a nag or anything, but i need to be for certain that my credits will indeed transfer... i have a lot of money on my character and i dont want to lose it because of all the time invested in the toon.
Moonkat, you posted here:
i'd just like to make sure i'm going to get my credits...call me paranoid but if i pay $50 bucks for a service form SoE i better get what i want, just my honest opinion.
