Thread: [COMPLAINT] Customers being censored?
After lots of threads were started on the same topic, GarVa started one thread in the Jedi forum (that even got stickied) which got massive negative replies, some of them were very constructive, some of them were not so constructive. I just wanted to look back to see any new posts in that thread and couldnt find it.
I assumed it was moved to a more appropriate forum (since it was not a Jedi-only issue, lots of other melee classes posted also). A search with author="GarVa" and title "Thinking about ranting" did not yield any results. I am not able to find this thread, so I want to ask if it was deleted or moved to a hidden forum, and if so, what were the reasons behind it.
Thanks.

I think you answered the 'why' question yourself.
And yes, these forums aremoderated (moderation is a form of censorship) andthreads that get way out of hand* get locked or deleted**. The unfortunate result of deleted threads is that the constructive posts are deleted along with theoffensive posts.
(*) a thread with some abusive/offensive posts can be cleaned up by deleting or editing those posts. When there are too many of them then the moderators have no other choice than toeither lock the thread or delete it.
(**) as I recall the deleted threads actually get moved to a 'hidden' forum.

Yup, all that is true.
However, most people in that thread were complaining about being ignored. Ignoring customers complaining about being ignored (which is the message being sent by deleting that thread) is pretty stupid from a business point of view. If this is the way things are handled here (and they seem to be handled like that more and more), I have no option but to start talking about SOE at my favorite online stores or game magazines instead of talking to SOE about the problem I see with their product.
going to be read by anyone anymore. All the replies that were
continuing to be added were mainly becoming abusive rants. The thread
served its purpose when the publish came out and it needed to be
retired.

Did SOE employees read the thread after it was started (before only abusive rants started to pop up) and gather feedback that was / is discussed in meetings and can we expect to see any actions being taken based on that feedback or should we assume that the constructive feedback also got ignored along with the abusive rants? |

Well, I usually don't get caught up in these things but this seems to me to be:
*A tacid admission that the threads are intended as little more then a distraction for the player base
*The community relations department wishes to maintain a parent/child relationship with the player base instead of a customer/vendor relationship
To put this in a Star Wars context... "That is why you fail"... or at least explains a good part of the disconnect.

So what was the purpose of that thread then ?
Was it to try and get all the pissed off customers to post the thoughts on the publish in one place, to make them easier to delete, instead of having to go looking for them.
A lot of the posts on there weren't 'abusive rants', they started getting abusive when it started to appear that SOE weren't going to answer the concerns being voiced there.
Are we going to get feedback and answers to the questions/concerns raised in that thread ?
Finally, if there are 'abusive rants' in a thread delete the posts/ban the posters/lock the thread, but all you do by deleting everything including the well written/thoughtout posts is produce more people likely to rant next time and give them something else to rant about.
ps Perhaps it's about time that SONY started to look at the level of customer satisfaction SOE is generating for the brand/name. I have never had any problem with SONY's other products, but the way your customers are being treated here is already affecting the way I feel about other SONY products.

Unfortunately people often make threads into whatever want, the thread was only a reminder to follow the community guidelines. It was never posted or implied that it was a question and answer type of thread.

Hahahaha... you know it's funny...
Just the other day I went down to my local EB store and just for "S&G's" Iinquired about SWG: Total Experience. They said they stopped carrying it because 1) No one was buying it at all, and 2) No one had anything good to say about it, just a long string of complaints condemnation from unhappy formerpatrons.
I started laughing. Was a happy day. The customer IS always right.

That's exactly what I tell any SW/gaming fans I run into who've never tried it.... I advise them to stay away from the game, at all costs. It's not like the devs and/or community relations ppl really seem to be willing to listen to the customers anymore.
What to envoke rage and hatred?
