Thread: Can we get a Suggestions Forum please ?
Untill this day i am wondering why the SWG forum does not have a suggestion forum in it. Many people come up with great ideas and i never see any dev respond to any of the suggestions. Also sadly suggestions get burried in whine threads faster then vader can forcechocke someone...
Pls devs/admins let us have a suggestion forum where we can post and discuss our ideas. Maybe then you could read and discuss some of those ideas aswell as you wouldent have to go trough tons of spam and whine threads.

We have them. Several of them, actually. You just have to post to the right place. Have a suggestion about space? Hit the JTL forum. Suggestion about your class? Your class's forum is the place for that. Idea of what should go into the next expansion? Expansion forum for you. We don't need a big "Suggestions" forum, since that would actually bog things down even more. With the current system, if a dev needs info about Artisans, they can go right to the Artisan forum, rather than trying to wade through a mass of suggestions that have nothing to do with what they need. It's much more organized.
yea and fight his way trough all the spam/whine/nerf threads.....
do u honestly think the devs are gonna search for good suggestions going torugh all the junk thats posted in the professions froums ? I don't think they have the time for that. By having suggestions in one place it would be easier fo all of us and the devs to read/discuss suggestions.
Cebo, I'm sympathetic to your idea, but there are a couple of reasons why I don't think you should hope too much that you'll ever see a "Suggestions" forum.
First of all, suppose one was added, and that the Developers started discussing those ideas with the players who proposed them. What do you think would happen once those "red-name" messages started showing up on the Dev Tracker?
Exactly -- the people who never do anything but whine would start appearing in droves. Sure, GarVa and the forum moderator could delete those posts and say, "This forum is for constructive suggestions only," but there's a never-ending supply of people who enjoy complaining, all of whom would scream "censorship!" at the mass deletions that would happen. Probably not a good customer service thing.
Second, and more important, is the belief the developers have appeared to have since Day One: "if we encourage player suggestions, they're going to expect us to implement their suggestions... and when we don't (because we can't possibly implement them all), they're going to get even more abusive than they usually are. It's just not worth it."
From their point of view, encouraging player suggestions would be counterproductive, since the number of suggestions not implemented would always be much, much larger than the number that did get implemented. That's just an invitation to making a lot ofyour customers unhappy... so why do it?
Finally, it's just my opinion of course, but I believe thatmost of SWG's designersthink they already know what should be done to improve this game.Onmost (not all, butmost)of theoccasions when it appears that a popular player suggestionwas implemented, it's because that's something the developers had already decided to do. If that's true, then why bother with a Suggestions forum?
But again, what's the alternative? Suppose the developers said, "Hey, Flatfingers, we love your Player Contracts idea -- we'll get right on it!" Next thing you know, you've got people coming out of the woodwork with suggestions (of radically varying quality), all of whom now expect their idea to be adopted with equal enthusiasm, too. The devscould send "thank you and we'll get right on it" messages as PMs, but you have to know that there'd be people who'd take those PMs and post them publicly for bragging rights: "Hey, everybody, look what SOE_SoAndSo just sent me!"
Soyes,it's frustrating for someone who tries to be constructive, but I can understand why the devs don't make a point of encouraging individuals to offer suggestions. I do think there'd be some value in occasionally dropping a general post thatsays, "We read your suggestions and appreciate the constructive ideas you have. We can't use them all, but we're always looking for great ideas to help us make Star Wars Galaxies more fun for you-- please keep contributing."
And in fact, on very rare occasions TH and others have done this. So, all in all, asking for a Suggestions forum probably isn't something we should be thumping SOE about.

It's just that it's very frustrating to see so many great ideas which takes people a long time to type droping to page 5 and below in a matter of minutes because of all the whine/nerf/spam posts on these forums and may therefor go unseen by anyone with a red name.
I guess it's something i'll have to learn to accept
